    Rear camera display

No, in my 2014 with the Parking and Technology (larger nav. screen) packages, the Park Distance Control is always visible in reverse, either as full-screen or as the right sidebar, and it's the rear camera that can be toggled on/off — the inverse of what you're trying to do. The Genius is correct.

    Automatic time/date adjustment

I activated the "Automatic time setting" via coding on my Mega (with Technology package). See the spreadsheet under my signature for details.

The vent is held in place with metal tabs on either side and pulls straight out from the dash.

Chevy Bolt begins production “in just a few short months”

It's a pretty safe bet that we're going to see some jaw-dropping deals on 2014 i3s coming off lease this summer/fall. Competition is a beautiful thing.

    BMW i at CES 2016

And Light & Charge looks interesting. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/pressDetail.html?title=bmw-at-the-consumer-electronics-show-ces-2016-in-las-vegas&outputChannelId=6&id=T0247965EN&left_menu_item=node__6728

    "Low end voltage" question

    I'd guess they're replacing the 12V battery.

how to pre condition the i3

Two alternatives for preconditioning the cabin are with a smartphone, or with the key fob — in the North American market, you can re-program the panic button to precondition the cabin. Have to change it via coding, though.

Fluid Black paint to cost $550

In the first two model years, non-metallic exterior paint was included in the standard base price of the i3. Only metallic hues got the up-charge. Apparently, that "BMW i Blue highlight" by the door sill comes at a premium, or "Fluid" is code for unicorn blood. Photo copyright christophbusse.de

    snow driving

The snow tires are great. I'm on a two-year lease with 20-inch sport tires and bought the OEM winter set. No regrets. We had a lot of snow in the mid-Atlantic last year. You know, some i3 drivers in winter climates won't bat an eye about spending thousands for olive-tanned leather or $800 on a...

Good or Bad Deal in Socal

Aim for 15%-20% off MSRP before incentives.

    MD EVSE install rebate

I'm at a loss ... although if you had gone the do-it-yourself route, the state would have given you 50% the cost for just the EVSE. I'd call that an incentive. It's odd the electrician didn't include the permit/inspection fee as part of the quote before he began work. $250 is an unfortunate...

    MD EVSE install rebate

With Maryland paying 50% of the EVSE cost/installation (capped at $900), how would you "come out even," regardless of whom ran the wire?

    December vs Jan incentives

Assuming you're in the U.S., holiday incentives expire on Jan. 4, 2016. Past this date, no one outside of BMW corp. knows what the incentives will be.

    Is orange a popular color?

No, just the usual $550 for metallic paint. 15-20% off MSRP before the $7.5K incentive, especially since it's a BEV and end-of-year sales pressure on the dealerships. Piece of cake. My commute is 45 miles roundtrip, and it gets colder here in Maryland. Good luck. The BEV is my best daily...

With the car in READY state, could you post a photo of your instrument cluster after a full charge on the Clipper Creek?

I bet we'll see a heated steering wheel option with model year 2017.

Waiting for Delivery. What should I be doing?

Your client advisor should set this up at delivery. Sure. But they won't work until you set up Assist or ConnectedDrive or whatever marketing is calling it. Your CA should have more details. I set up my ID/password at my CA's desk after signing the paperwork. No, but http://www.bimmer.work is...

    Question on battery capacity

That is the usable (relative) capacity. Absolute is ~22 kWh. The figure in the display varies in my BEV, likely because of ambient temperature, driving technique, and who knows what else. And the usable "Kapa." increased after some of the software updates this year. I think it would be...
