I had issues with rex, dealership asked to run it once a month long enough that gas is recycled within 3 months. I have been practicing that for a year so far no issue except there is that feeling of guilt for polluting!

Had the same issue but it was replaced under warranty. A month later BMW sent a letter stating the warranty on FUEL SENSOR is extended to 10 years. This is such a common problem, BMW should address it at no cost, maybe check with them before taking the DIY route!

Its best to hack just the range extender option, its pretty easy cost about $50 for both app and dongle. On longer or unknown journeys i often kick Rex around 30% or higher so if it fails there is some juice to left to develop plan B

It may be specific to early i3, 2014,2015 or issue occurs after 3-4 years.

Had the same issue on 15rex. Never had the issue before so it maybe related to the Android OS on the phone and since first week of January there was no reboot.

Sorry I meant, using the cell phone connection(phone app) to remotely cool the car. BMW service had been choppy even in metro area for 15i3rex, it just got better couple months ago.

Luckily, it was covered under warranty, it happened a day after 12V battery was replaced. Someone here mentioned that compressor must have been weak and then died after fresh 12V battery was installed. Leaf sounds like good alternative to i3, how reliable is the pre-conditioning though.

I am looking forward to times when anyone could upgrade the battery packs with optimism. For many of us then, i3 would the the first and last EV we ever bought!

48 months and 30K miles later, the range has slightly dropped, for example full charge shows 68 miles vs 72 miles range. If rate of degradation is constant then i would fall into the average owner category and happy to be there!!

I often think about TM3 but i3 meets 100% of my driving needs so its tough to just splurge on a Tesla. I tell my self to hold on until the next generation battery packs that have Maxwell super capacitors built into battery pack.

Your point makes lot of sense, as people would trade smaller battery pack for bigger one instead of buying a different car, it would lead to fewer i3s in the market, driving up their prices. Also, depreciation is offset by the cost saving that i3( any EV) brings, before i3, maintenance/gas etc...

I think the receiver end moves a little, in my car it moved back and then the buckle would not fit because seat fabric was sort of coming in the way, in other words, buckling up requires little more force. But simply moving the buckle up fixed the problem.
