KLE replacement outside of the US

The cutoff for the new KLE was sometime in October. Mine was built Oct 14 and has the new KLE. Others have posted early Oct build dates and got the old KLE. When the KLE's started showing up in sufficient quantity, many arriving vehicles were held up at the port and had the new one installed...

    REX Gastank

Its not about the tax credits that purchasers get, its about the ZEV credits that can be acquired and re-sold to other manufacturers that want to sell in CA but have no ZEV vehicles. Tesla, which only makes ZEV vehicles sells credits worth north of $76M (that's one of the reasons they are...

Retrofitting/fixing EU gas tank into US model?

I have the new KLE and software, and I'm still able to code my car using the files/guidance provided in the referenced Facebook group. I haven't coded Tomasz's fix in, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with the new software. I'm pretty sure Tomasz has the new software, btw, from other posts...

    Update on KLE replacement problem

I don't know what the official latest software is, but you can check on your version by putting a USB drive in the car and exporting your profile. Look at the exported file (its an XML document, though is doesn't have an XML extension). The software version is listed in the <i-step>(your...

Taking Control of your Range Extender - Mike Mas

(from info on the facebook page, just re-posting here for convenience) The folks at DVDInMotion have indicated that they will update the software should it "break" due to normal software updates from BMW. You should speak to them regarding details on this. Second point - someone on the...

    Preconditioning Observations

I suspect that the hit is less than you think. In rely cold conditions (under 20 degrees) it might be 20 minutes or do to prevent condition. At 40 or 45 degrees, I don't think it it would take more than 15 minutes, and it's probably not drawing at max rate for all of that.

i3 questions from a Volt owner

I think the split screen is only available on "professional" nav large screen. The content option on the split screen that you want is "Entertainment Details", but if you can't get a split screen, it might be moot.

What would happen if I keep driving on GAS(REX) w/o chargng?

Yes, you can drive "forever". Several folks, primarily in Europe, have reported on multi-hundred or even thousand mile trips with the REx doing just that.

    Snow?

Handles well in the snow with the 19" all-seasons. Put it in EcoPro or EcoPro+ to reduce power to the wheels to reduce/eliminating tire spinning.

    I3 Engine Start Mod

I don't know any more about the DVDInMotion solution than I've posted. I'm just porting information from the facebook group over here. I suggest contacting the folks at DVDInMotion directly. I have not purchased this, but several folks on the facebook group have and they've reported that it...

    I3 Engine Start Mod

If you don't want to code this yourself, the folks at dvdinmotion.com (i guess the person there to contact is Lucie), have put together a solution that runs off of a USB stick. You pay for some number of features that you want unlocked/coded and they give you a USB stick with the program that...

Buyer's Remorse - Range Disappointments Continue

you need your VIN to unlock the rest of the codes. Begin by holding down the button on the side of the control console for 10=15 seconds until a menu comes up. I think the car has to be on to do this. once the menu show up, press the button quickly to show the next menu choice. Hold the...

    I3 continuous Driving??

There's been quite a few folks (mostly European, but some US as well) that have posted in various forums about taking their i3 on long-duration trips. No one has reported a problem with the REx not working in those situations. the REx engine is modified from a BMW motorcycle, so it shouldn't...

Buyer's Remorse - Range Disappointments Continue

Lencap, have you looked at the hidden service menu to see what you actual battery capacity is? There is an option in there that tells you the capacity that your car is operating on. Here is a quick recap of how to get it (pulled from a file on the facebook page): You'll want to look at option...

    Adjusting low-beam headlights

Thanks again to Jelloslug for posting the picture. Adjusted the lights this evening and everything was super simple. Backed into the garage, closed the door and left the car on. Marked where the top of the lights were with a couple pieces of tape. Popped the frunk, pulled up the velcro'd...

    Adjusting low-beam headlights

Thanks! That's just what I was looking for. All I want to do is tweak the adjustment screw so that the "neutral" position of the low beams is slightly higher than what it is now. Don't want to mess with the auto leveling function in any way. I'll probably play around with this a bit this...

    Adjusting low-beam headlights

Does anyone know if the low-beam headlights can be adjusted up or down? I know they are "adaptive", in that they move up and down based on the angle of the car (e.g. going up a hill or down a hill). I find that at the neutral point, however, they are pointed just a bit too low. I'd like to...

    Regenerative Braking

I've been giving rides in my car, and once I explain how the accelerator works, i've found it takes a new driver maybe 5-10 minutes to get the hang of it and the ride is smooth thereafter.

The pain of drilling holes in the bumper for the front plate

If you are going to mount the license plate holder and have accepted drilling the front bumper, then why not just use the holder that comes with the car? I watched the dealer install mine. Its straightforward. Drill 2 largish holes in the bumper where the dimples are. The size of the holes...
