    Not charging properly

Well, glad to hear this. Not totally unexpected that the car needed some sleep. I've seen a lot of quirkiness in my vehicle over the last almost 7 years. In fact the nickname for mine is "Quirky".

Here's a video on how to use the "secret" menu on the i3. There are others as well...

    Not charging properly

That's a new one on me. Perhaps your i3 has had a sudden HV battery failure? Perhaps you can check the kappa value and see what it says. Another thing you might try since you have a Rex is to drive until the Rex kicks in and see if that helps reset things. Interested in hearing what's the root...

I3 not following delayed off-peak charging

When I purchased my i3 Rex in 2014 and expected to use low cost charging, I was in for a real surprise. Long story short, it was not reliable. I went back and forth with the dealer about this, sending in reports of the failures over periods of weeks but finally gave up as no help was...

    Smog Check in California?

I've owned my i3 Rex since 2014 here in California and have never needed to have it smog checked.

Unplugging EVSE When Not In Use:

I have had my Clipper Creek EVSE on a water heater timer for years without any issues. I did contact Clipper Creek to verify this was acceptable. You may ask why I put my EVSE on a heater timer. Well, to be direct, my 2014 was quite unpredictable (unreliable) when I programmed the charging...

My lovely i3 wont charge and charger doesn't lock in

Of course I didn't look on the bottom of the battery but even if I had I might have missed it in dim light. Thanks Mark. Mine was marked 12/13 which is interesting since my car suffered from the early battery/cable failure issue and was replaced by BMW later in 2014, and I would have thought...

My lovely i3 wont charge and charger doesn't lock in

I also have a 2014 as the original owner. A few months ago my 12V battery failed and I replaced it. I still have the old battery but can't seem to find any sort of date code on it. There is a Q code on it with various numbers but I don't know what they represent. Maybe someone out there does...

My lovely i3 wont charge and charger doesn't lock in

Is this a used i3 or is it new? Many odd problems may occur if the 12V battery is old and failing, more likely in an older used vehicle. Do you know how old the 12V battery is?

    Highest Mileage i3/REX?

I also posted the following details in the past about how mixing new and old tires affects the car: https://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3783&start=40#p38869 More to the point of this topic, I have 73000 miles on my 2014 i3 Rex.

    Highest Mileage i3/REX?

Regarding replacing only the rear tires, you may want to read the following which I posted not long ago. The car's traction control system was not very happy. https://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17003&p=65450#p65450

    Fob problem

I recently got the remote low battery message on my i3 Rex. I replaced the battery and it went away. However, I don't remember how long it was before I tried the remote again with the new battery. It could have been quite long, at least 12 hours or so. Perhaps it takes some time to register...

Remote Key fob battery discharging problem w. Easy access

I recently replaced the battery in my key fob after getting the low battery warning message when I got in my car a few weeks ago. I've had my i3 Rex since 2014 and I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've replaced the battery. It is possible part of the system is defective, that is, the fob...

steering Wheel became Hard to turn

I did not have to pay for this and I didn't request it. I did bring my car in last year 9/16/19 to take care of a recall for the pressure temperature sensor (rex gas tank issue) and also there was a program vehicle recall - "updated software per sib 65 23 17" which was performed. I've saved...

steering Wheel became Hard to turn

I have a 2014 Rex with 73000 miles. It has parking assist which I haven't used in years. Fortunately I've never experienced this issue through multiple software updates. Perhaps I've never encountered the conditions which cause it. The car is now at I001-19-07-539 if that is useful to help...

Ecopia Tire Rebates / America's Tire, Discount Tire & Costco...

I purchased the Ecopia tires from my nearby Costco a while back and had no issues regarding balancing or anything else that I could name. You could speak with their service center manager about any concerns you might have before going ahead with it. Also you might check online reviews for any...

    Speed sensor...

A while back when I replaced my rear tires only due to a front tire availability situation, the traction system starting engaging on curves on my commute where it had never done so before. This was somewhat dangerous in one location where the freeway on ramp was a gentle down sloping curve and...

    Most... expensive... flat... ever!

Forgot to mention in my previous post that I have the 19" wheels on my i3. Never wanted the 20's for reasons you mention. Also thought they'd give a smoother ride.

    Most... expensive... flat... ever!

I'm sorry about your tire misfortune. This reminded me of the flat tire saga I had with my 2014 i3 about 3 years ago. I was driving to work in the morning in the left lane, rounding a curve in the freeway, when I saw the mangled ladder laying across the lane I was in. I had nowhere to go and...

    upgrade charging

I would recommend a Clippercreek product (https://www.clippercreek.com). I've had the HCS-40 in my garage since 2014 and my i3 has over 70,000 miles, most of them charged in my garage. No issues at all with the EVSE. The unit I have definitely has no bells and whistles, it just charges my car...
