    Help with error codes needed

Fellow I3ers- I've had the CEL on for a while in my 2014 Rex. I've been checking the scans for error codes and a couple seem to be coming up consistently. One is P14FA (scanner says Fan 1 Error Stage 1) and the other is 21E725 (scanner says Electric fan self-diagnosis level 1: communication...

Hold State of Charge won't de-select....

When I try to turn it off in my i3, it never instantly deselects. It took me a while to learn this and be patient and let the computer do its thing. It can take what seems like a few minutes. Just press to deselect once and wait to see if it eventually works. I wish it would instantly turn...

94Ah REX - HOLD STATE OF CHARGE Issue

Are you being patient? Sometimes it can take quite a while for it to fire up. At least that's been my experience.

    Where do this part belong?

How do you know it was from your car? Was it parked in your garage when you found it? It looks like some sort of protective cushion to keep a tube of some sort from rubbing against something. Was it found near the front or rear of your vehicle? That's where I'd start to look for some sort of...

    On the verge of purchasing

Didn't know about the eGolf having different battery sizes depending on the year, I only saw the later model 36kWh number for the later years. Looks like you should see a good improvement in range.

    On the verge of purchasing

What range are you getting on your eGolf? It sounds like higher range is a top priority for you and I'm not sure you'll see much improvement, if any with an i3 BEV. Did I miss something in your post that would suggest this is OK?

It’s a cash cow the bad tire scam

In my experience, the passenger rear (19" in my case) had quite a bit more wear. By swapping rear wheels, it would help somewhat to even out the wear and give some more life to the rears. Please see link in my post above for pictures of my last set of tires just before replacing them. I...

It’s a cash cow the bad tire scam

You guys must be having a lot of "fun" with your i3s, I got about 43000 miles out of my last set of tires, mostly freeway driving. The rears were pretty worn out though, passenger side being the worst, fronts not quite as much. If you'd like to see them check this out...

12V battery issue... maybe overcharging issue?

Did you measure the voltage of the battery when removed? Does it remain hot? Wondering if there is an internal short. If it's something in the car that is causing this you won't have better luck with a new battery. Can you have your charging system checked?

$5,000 HV Battery Repair Not Covered by Warranties

Sorry for the trouble you've been having. I have a 2014 Rex with about 74000 miles and i am also getting about 50 miles on a full charge. I'm considering bringing it in to my local dealer for a battery warranty check but not sure it would result in the battery warranty kicking in even though...

Car unstable, jerking left and right, swerves

Did turning off the traction control fix the issue under the problematic road conditions? Did you happen to change tires recently? It's probably like something mentioned above but I ran into an issue with the traction control unexpectedly kicking in after I changed only the rear tires on my i3...

Yellow PARK light, ABS, brake system error

Glad to hear you are getting your issues resolved. Regarding your tires, make sure they are all properly inflated, the recommended pressures for front and back should be visible on the door frame. Once this is done, perform the TPMS reset procedure as shown in this short video. Hope this...

Yellow PARK light, ABS, brake system error

Haven't heard this one before. First question, how was your car towed? Does the HV battery have an adequate charge level? Do you have an OBD scanner you can use to reset the error codes to see if that helps? Have you given the car some time to see if it can self correct? Do your parking...

    My REX Sporadically Disengages

Have you tried clearing all codes and to see if the same codes come back?

I took my 2014 i3 in for a battery capacity check and BMW added capacity to my battery

I hardly drive my i3 anymore since I stopped commuting 75 miles a day before the pandemic even started. The reduced capacity/range is still adequate enough and it charges really fast now!. Otherwise, like 3pete said, if I were sweating the range I'd be more aggressive about getting...

I took my 2014 i3 in for a battery capacity check and BMW added capacity to my battery

Do you know what your previous software version was and what your new version is? (Available in the saved .mpd profile file on a USB drive plugged into the center console.) Should be listed in the file like this: <i-step>I001-17-07-500</i-step> My 2014 kappa is close to 70% and am waiting as...

The pains of finding wiper blades for the i3.

This is interesting, I replaced my wipers several years ago with a 28" and a 21" and haven't come across any issues that I can attribute to the shorter driver's side wiper. I looked at the trace on the windshield and the wiper covers everything except a small area of the upper left corner of...

    TPMS Accuracy

I've found the TPMS readings to be accurate to about 1 or 2 psi which is good enough for me. Of course, the pressures will vary with temperature so the readings will change. I also enabled the temperature readings via coding as a curiosity and although I'm not sure of the absolute accuracy of...

    2015 Rex misfire issues

You didn't mention if you cleared the error codes. These cars can be quirky especially around bad 12V battery issues. Clear the codes and put the car to bed for the night and see if it feels better in the morning. ;)

    Road Trip Experience

For longer trips in my Rex, I keep an extra 2.5 gallon gas can in the frunk so I can have even more flexibility on when to stop to refuel. Happy Rexing :D
