    ConnectedDrive

I find that curious too, that the car's location and state of charge are always spot on, but the commands from the app don't seem to be able to be executed. One would think that if the data can flow one way, it out to be able to go the other.

Review: iOttie Easy One Touch phone mount...

Thanks for the post and the pics! I have my phone in a similar location, although I used the tape-on disc on the wood. Didn't think to try it on the dash where you did, good idea.

    Buying Advice: 2014 i3 REX

You're about to step into a brave new world! I have a 2014 Rex and love it! I wouldn't worry too much about the Rex not being run much; it will start on it own every so often to go through a maintenance cycle if it's not used. (This has taken many people on this forum by surprise). One thing...

The longer look down the road

I found myself last year in a very similar situation to you, but I was just impulsive enough to take the plunge. I suspect part of the reason was that my ICE car is a 15 year old Saab convertible, and although there are a lot of things I can and have fixed on it, there is also a fair amount of...

Strange clonking noise immediately after a bump

So, was that it? Did you find the grommet?

Bluetooth audio control through i3 radio?

I'll bet you can find an app that will read your texts out loud. My Motorola phone does it automatically, and when I have it set on Android Auto, Google will do it, too.

Bimmercode App REX ‘hold mode’ enablement step by step

No, everything is perfectly normal. Once you hit the button to stop the Rex, it shuts off according to it's own schedule, probably heat related. Personally, when I'm running mine on the interstate, I usually push the button to shut it off when I see my exit sign. I'll immediately hear the...

Auto climate button & AC on

I typically leave mine at 68 in the winter. One of the things I've noticed is when I park it in the sun on a 50 degree day, the interior will get warmer than 68. So when I get in and start it, it will blow cold air to try to cool it down to my set temperature. Maybe that's what you're...

    Rear defroster not working well

Thanks for going to all that work and posting it here, Don. My 2014 Rex rear defroster works just as well as yours, so it makes me wonder if it's a design issue with the car?

    Winterizing my i3

Don't forget there's a "Traction" menu item in the car's idrive system as well. You might play with that a bit when it's icy out.

    Poor Lower Back Support

If you can't get the website to open, you basically just get some plastic auto upholstery pry tools (around $7.00 from Harbor Freight). Start at the lower right of the seat back and work your way around the bottom and sides. It popped loose pretty easily!

    Poor Lower Back Support

One of the few things I have NOT liked on my 2014 i3 Rex is the lack of lower back support on the seats. My passenger seat isn't quite as bad, so I suspect it's partly just normal wear and tear on a five-year-old car. Still, I wish BMW had given us at least a rudimentary manual lumbar support...

DCFC Level 3 charging not reliable

I'm sorry we're all having this problem, but glad it's not just me! I have a 2014 Rex model, and attempt to charge at an Electrify America station 40 miles away sometimes. I think only twice out of the last ten times have I been able to plug in and charge immediately. Most of the rest of the...

Will likely be buying an i3 within a few months

FWIW, my vote is for the older Rex model. I live in mid Missouri, with similar conditions to what you described in winter My 2014 Rex model will usually deliver around 50 miles on battery in winter, closer to 70 in summer. The key with the Rex model is to code it to Euro standards, so you...

Error with Rex maintenance cycle function

Is your car coded to be able to run the Rex at will below 75% charge? If not, I would consider doing that so you could give it some exercise. It makes it a much more useful car that way, anyway. Either that or drive it down to five miles, then drive around the block near your home until it...

    Shall i buy one.

How much city driving do you do? The i3 Rex is a decent highway car, but if that's the majority of your driving, there are plenty of other cars that will handle better on the highway and still get you 40 mpg (which is what you'll get driving with the Rex on the highway). If you do quite a bit...

    Heater?

I also have a 2014 Rex model, and live in the Midwest where it was in the teens and 20s for most of last winter. I always preconditioned the car in the morning, kept the heat at 66 and used the seat heaters a lot. I stayed reasonably comfortable, if not exactly toasty, and usually had only a...

    New i3 REX owner!!!

Back to your original question on inspection, Missouri surprised me with an $87 alternative fuel tax. Apparently, that's to cover the gas tax I'm not paying by using electricity. Do other states do this?

    Thinking of buying a 2017 I3 Bev

One more thing to add to your calculus would be winter. If it gets into the teens where you live, you should count on a 15~20% drop in range. My 2014 Rex goes from 70 miles on a charge to around 52 on cold days in Missouri. I don't drive a consistent daily mileage, so a Rex was the only...

Drive an i3 with REX for 700+ Miles?

BTW, coding means changing the car`s programming. In America, they are programmed to use up the battery first, then kick on the gas motor. In Europe, you can start the Rex anytime below 75% charge. Coding just means changing the programming to allow that. Google it and you'll find lots of...
