    12v battery monitor

Mine have always pivoted slightly with some effort. Never been an issue yet. Not sure what this "horn" is you refer to. If you want to check to see if the battery is Original to the car, see this pic on what to look for: If the 4-digit stamp is not there, it is a replacement battery and there...

Seeking Advice on Annual Maintenance, Battery Check, and Long-Distance Suitability for 2016 i3 REx

The main High Voltage Battery does not suddenly "fail". It just gradually provides less range over time. The sudden "fail" is the 12volt battery that is used for operation of the electronics of the car. The $500 Battery Capacity test is not for the 12v battery.

Not a problem per se. What is auto about climate control?

It is in the Owner Manual. If you don't have the printed one, there is one stored digitally in the car. The "goal" of Auto is to reach the Set Temp as quickly as possible based on both interior and exterior ambient conditions. It will adjust which vents to use to accomplish this as well...

    12v battery monitor

No they are not always on. They shut down around 15 minutes after you leave the car. Also- getting to the 12v battery terminals to install is not that difficult. You just need to remove the Frunk Tray, then loosen the 10mm nuts on the battery terminals. You never have to go back to it after...

    Bimmerlink work with obdlink cx?

Both BimmerLINK and BimmerCODE are by the same developers. If the OBD device works fine on one, there is no reason it should not work on the other.

Key fob won't open or start car

We never lock the car in the garage and we are now going on 3+ years from the FOB battery and no issues with the 12v.

My bmw app not showing anything but location…help!

When you open the app, do you see an image of your car or is it covered with a sheet? Your sub has expired but sounds like BMW is just lax about actually shutting it down. You should not be able to do anything via the app if your subscription to Connected Services has expired. If you still...

    12v battery monitor

I've had my monitor for 2 years now and I've noticed that occasionally. For me, it appears if I send a command to the car from the app, like LOCK the doors or UNLOCK the doors. There have always been people that think sending a Lock/Unlock command to the car will somehow wake the car and...

My bmw app not showing anything but location…help!

It is not a "free" service. In the USA it is included for 4 years from the first date of sale. After that you have to subscribe for $120/year. If you created an account it should show what the current status of the Connected Services are. If you did not pay $120, you are still using the...

    Dashboard update - odd messages

Sounds like classic failing 12v battery. If you walk away from the car and come back 30 minutes later, is the hazard lamp in the center of the dash still on?

    Electric problem

If everything else seems to be working as it should then it sounds like a wiring problem. I've not heard of this specific kind of issue before so this is not a symptom of a common problem that would say "this part is bad, replace it". Depending on where you are, and where you park, you could...

Last i3 Sold in the US...

It was most likely retained by the Dealer for Display/Personal Use and only now released. I would not expect it to be something that has been sitting all this time but we shall see.

    Charging 80 or 100%

The info that applies to the BMW i3. If it was otherwise they would have provided an option to set the charge to other than 100%. 100% on this car is not 100% because there is a buffer at the top and bottom ends, so the car ends up charging to 80-85% anyways but shows as "100%".

    2015 I3 Fast charge issue

When you plug into DC Fast Charger (CCS) if the light stays white, it has not completed the "handshake" with the 2 devices. Usually this means the little locking pin at the top of the port has not engaged and for many people, simply lifting up a bit on the handle while plugging in solves this...

Replace Rear Pads warning in app @ 30k miles... (???)

Can you manually reset the Service Interval and see if it goes away? I would think if it was an alert based on a sensor that it would not.

Scary catastrophic tire failure (not on an i3)

Here's an interesting similar story with video. Seems the tire was already heavily damaged by being run flat and simply re-filling it was just too much for the thing. Perhaps the Jaguar tire had already been damaged in some way by being run at low pressures?

2014 i3 REX with 11.7 Batt Kappa Max

When "new" the number would have read 29.9 or 30.0 but for "warranty" purposes BMW uses 27.2kWh at least in the USA.

Question on steering wheel airbag removal.

The only settings you lose are -as mentioned- Date & Time but those can get automatically reset and also any running "trip"measurements like trip odometer/milage/energy usage, basically anything that can be reset by pressing the button on the turn signal stalk. I was surprised to see all...

Some interiour lights won't go off when closing the car.

That is a classic sign of a failed 12v battery. The car is trying to charge it, but it won't absorb the charge. The energy is converted to heat.
