    SoH/Stated range trends?

What's missing from the Electrified data that I can read on my ID.4 is the battery MEC – maximum energy content. This isn't a hard and true number. Like with the i3, it's best to drive that car down onto the single digit SOC range then take it back up to 100% indicated, let the cells balance...

    SoH/Stated range trends?

Re: Art's comments above, here is a BMW training slide re: the 60 Ah variant (click thumbnail for full sized image). 396v is listed at the max voltage but I see 398v listed for your 94 Ah / 33 kWh battery. 398v ÷ 96 cells = 4.14 volts per cell, which is the 100% charge for a nominal 3.75v...

    SoH/Stated range trends?

It's hard to say. I have an estimated battery health of 90% -- a 2021 with 30,000 miles. At this exact moment my car is plugged in to a charger and the battery is at 37% and est. 50 miles, or about 135 miles at full charge. That's with nice weather and my normal 12 mile each way commute. 135...

    Charging 80 or 100%

Why? Because it was 2014 and BMW was new at this coming off of the Active-e experiment and didn't know how to market EVs to the masses, and felt the KISS principle was the right way to go with respect to charging and not alternating their customers. That would be my guess. They've certainly...

what EVs lead the pack as replacements/alternatives to the i3?

Despite my list, I have to agree with Art. I was quite satisfied with my inexpensive, fun to drive, reliable 2017 so I sold it and replaced it with a 2021, having seen nothing else in the US market that was comparable. That was 2½ years ago and the compact landscape hasn't changed much. I also...

what EVs lead the pack as replacements/alternatives to the i3?

The Volvo was my first thought too, but also the Mini Electric, leftover Chevy Bolts, and perhaps the upcoming Kia EV3 that'll be announced in two weeks.

Carrying Cargo 'n Things with Our i3's...

Depending on your intent, you may want to experiment with removing the rear seat bench. It pops out easily and may allow the seat backs to fold flat. But I'd double check that doing so doesn't over-rotate against the hinges, and that there's something there to support the folded-down seatbacks...

Those who swapped in a 12V lithium - how are things going?

These two blurbies are from the Dakota Lithium FAQ and worthy of consideration: Dakota Lithium batteries perform best when charged by a lithium compatible charger. Lead acid or SLA chargers, on-board chargers for AGM batteries, or other non-lithium chargers will charge a Dakota Lithium battery...

Carrying Cargo 'n Things with Our i3's...

Nothing quite as invigorating as strolling out of the store with a 3x5 sheet of tile backer and the assumption "of course it will fit," only to realize "phew! I barely squeezed that in" (after sliding my seat forward a few notches into a barely comfortable but not quite contorted position).

    SoH/Stated range trends?

When you're looking at this, is this in one long distance go? Or the culmination of multiple trips? I tend to only consider "usable range" a single leg full to empty excursion. There are a lot of variables at play that can throw off this range figure when driven over multiple sessions.

    Delayed charging Debacle

VW sells a rebranded Westabo EVSE with similar dual voltage capabilities, just to help broaden your search. I use a Zencar dual voltage unit that maxes out at 16 amps (similarly 120 or 240). Zencar sells the same unit with 32 amp capability, but only advertise it as a Level 2 box, but I'd bet...

Repair of Carbon Reinforced Plastic (CRP) panel

Also, with the exception of the non-sunroof roof (CFRP), hood (aluminum or steel) and tailgate (glass) the body panels are plastic -- ABS, I believe. I imagine pretty similar to what Saturn was doing with their SL series cars in the 90s, and what a lot of bumper facias are made of on lots and...

Buying used 2015 i3 all electric - questions on charging, range

Tesla hasn't opened Surchargeers to BMW yet. For now, there are adapters for AC Tesla charging, but that's only useful it you're parked overnight at a hotel or airport, it some other longer duration stopover.

Buying used 2015 i3 all electric - questions on charging, range

I believe you're in good shape, but worth plugging your VIN in to mdecoder.com and verifying DCFC is present. All 2015s supposedly have it as standard equipment, but it was an option in 2014 so just in case... S4U7 FAST CHARGING DC If not, the charge port will look like the one in the photo...
