What part is this?

Can someone help me identify what this part is? I found it on the floor by the driver's feet. It must have fallen out of the steering system or from the accelerator or brake pedal area... Thank you for your help

I believe that it is part of the attachment system for the plastic covers around the steering column. Yours isn't the first post with a photo of the part. Someone will certainly reply with more precise information.
