UK: Local authority installation of on-street charge point

Hello there,
has anyone out there (in the UK) made a successful application to their local authority for installation of an on-street charge point?
I am seriously considering an i3 range extender as my next company car but have no garage or off-street parking, so I will lobby my local authority to install an on-street charge point in the village. I am piecing together various bits of information from websites, among them the OLEV website but would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone familiar with the process.

There was a whole thread about this on the EVForum. As I recall the council can say that there is no available funding - or that they support a public location near you that is accessible. I think they can avoid their obligation by this means. Check the other forum would be my suggestion.
