I had my first flat (slow leak) yesterday and after the tire-plug repair (a rusty old roofing nail) the tires were set again to 33 front and 41 rear. I dialed "Reset" into the Tire Pressure Monitoring System and it slowly, over the course of several miles, reached 100% of Reset status.
Later, I called up that screen and noted that each tire is discretely monitored and displayed (to tenths of a pound); but to my surprise, each reading was about 3 pounds LOW to our external (garage and BMW electronic) gauge readings. Has anyone else delved into this system and discovered this?
Being aware of the discrepancy is adequate warning for me, but I wonder what effect that LOW READING has on eco-pro range/efficiency CALCULATIONS?
This recalls to me my 545 6-spd's predictable 10% loss in MPG once ethanol was forced into our US fuel system--it's an unwelcome fact that one simply deals with.
