I get a kick when the REX kicks in . Man that thing is working hard .

Does anyone Have any ideas on how to implment sound dampeners ?

Opinions seem to vary whether it is loud or not. The times I tested it during my 3 extended drives I found it actually reasonably quiet. How often have got it on?

Why would you want to silence it? Engineers spend so much time on it:

During the development of the BMW I01 the objective was to eliminate interference noises by the combustion engine and, at the same time, generate a sound pattern typical of the brand.

I've got to admit it's the best sounding lawn mower engine I've heard.

I've used it frequently and the noise level inside the car with the windows rolled up is minimal. I have to strain to hear it. Generally, I don't notice when it comes on or is running. When the windows are down, I agree, it sounds like a lawn mower engine but not any where near as loud as the volume of noise put out by law mower motors.

Depending on how much power you are using, the REx can run at different speeds. It is louder at maximum RPM, but also slows down when you do, so road and wind noise play a factor in what you hear as well.
