My wife has had her i3 for a couple of years now, and I've always enjoyed driving it. Yet I've always assumed my next car would be a plug-in hybrid, because I like to go on "hiking weekends" up in to the mountains, and there aren't likely to be convenient fast chargers nearby for a long time.
But once I started looking, it seems like a plug-in hybrid is not worth the extra expense, and double-maintenance, with more and more long-range electric cars being announced almost daily.
So, while I research the new electrics, I thought it would be fun to do a little road-tripping in my wife's i3. Just trips I can do in a day, so they may not technically be road trips, but I still have to fast-charge twice on them.
I made a video of my first one, a trip to visit my son at college, 2 1/2 hours away, and posted it on YouTube.
BMW i3 Road Trip—Charlotte to Chapel Hill
I shot footage of a couple of more, which I'll try to post soon.
If anyone has any advice on road-tripping the i3, or shooting video on a road trip, I'd love to hear it.
