These are the fake leather sensatec or something like that. I knew BMW wouldn't warranty them so I have a new cover on order from the UK. Unavailable in the USA.

I brought to an upholstery shop who told me they don't warranty anything interior. They don't even like to do the repairs and bring them to his shop. He offered to place additional foam padding to build up the bolster but I decided to buy a replacement cover and do the installation myself. This will give me a chance to find the seat temp wire and relocate it.

Since my first car in 1986 dealerships have not changed one bit. I am not confident any of the i3's warranties will be honored in the future. I'll enjoy this vehicle while it lasts. In the meantime I will take care of it as best I can. Just venting a little I guess.

Yeah, looks like Mega World (Loft) with Sensatec fake leather. I've seen quite a few photos with excessive wear in the same location. Our Giga World (Lodge) real leather seat trim seems to hold up better but I always try to avoid spinning on the outside seat edge when entering or exiting.

Most U.S. i3 warranties that might have covered that wear have already expired. Our final year 2021 U.S. i3 still has a few more months remaining on its 4-yr warranty, but after that expires, only the battery pack and corrosion perforation warranties will remain. The battery pack warranty is the most important to me. So far, our local BMW dealer seems to be honoring these warranties.

Despite the car's remaining 4 year warranty, the dealership denied it. Said BMW denied it but I don't have any confidence they asked anyone. I do and don't care. That's why I ordered a new replacement from the UK that you don't want to know how much is costing me. But I don't care. I only have this one chance to have my wife's car be in the best condition.

We will put a seat pad on top so hopefully, it won't happen again. In my 2019 I have the lodge interior, leather wool combo which I love. I wouldn't have passed on this car because of the seats but had a hard time finding the lodge.

Although now that Toomanyxjs lowered his Galvanic Gold i3S REX to $28K it would have been in my range. The 2021 I bought was $26,500 with a 1 year CPO warranty and factory warranty. But what good is the warranty if they deny stuff like this??

I'll have it fixed once I get the new cover.

Here's the place: https://www.lllparts.co.uk. They were able to source the seat bottom cover when I couldn't find it in the USA.
