2014 i3 Rex Mega with no options (absolutely base) car, which I am ok with.
This is in TX where we have a $2500 state credit for EV.
So, the deal is OC with flex:
- $2500 down
- $259/mo for 24 months 12k/year
- MSRP of $47025 (
- Residual - 62% + $7500 federal credit
At end of 2 years, I return the car and pay them $7500 + 350 walk away fee.
My thots:
- My down payment will be covered by the state credit (check within 60 days), so effectively, $0 down
- Effectively, I am leasing/renting the car for $259/mo
- I asked, and the sales rep confirmed this $259/mo includes all TT&L
- Yes, I will need to do some tweaking to make sure I end up with at least a $7500 tax liability when I file for 2016 taxes.
- Yes, I will need to wait until 2016 April/May to get my $7500 from Fed, but I don't need to pay BMW the $7500 until lease expires anyway, so no big issue there
- I still need to do research to ensure that I will indeed get the full $2500 state credit
What do you all think?
