Just saying hello!
I picked up the 2014 REx 1/22/15 and I love it!
My 2013 Leaf SV lease is up soon and I was looking at my options. I read about the i3 during Q2 2014 and was curious about them. Then, I attended the North American Auto Show in Detroit and saw the i3 in person... and I loved it.
I scheduled a test drive with a dealer that had i3's on the lot and then I was SOLD on its looks and performance. I worked a GREAT deal with the sales staff and now here I am!
Coming from a pure BEV like the Leaf makes the 'limitations' of the REx 'no big deal'.... Driving the i3 REx from the dealer I experienced first hand the loss of power situation many describe in this forum. Since I did my research (reading this forum) I knew it was coming and it was no big deal. I was going 71mph and once the REx turned on and I depleted the power... It cut me back to 2 little ePOWER bars and my speed was limited to 65mph, I could not pass semi-trucks anymore.
I agree the situation is not ideal... but as a former Leafer... at least you can make the trip at 65 mph, with heat on! The same trip in the Leaf I would have to limit my speed to no faster than 60mph and NO HEAT... So from my point of view, its an improvement!
Because I got home after 11pm with the new i3 REx there was not much time to charge for the next day... so the next day I worked the REx during my daily work commute. No issues, didnt have to worry about my route or where I was going to plug in next... So from a former Leaf driver... the REx is working as anticipated.
I look forward to driving the i3 more!
