I have just ordered my i3 I took the internet option and I was hoping someone can let me know what sort of speed you get in the UK? Also are you restricted to which websites you can access? For example could you stream video from BBC iPlayer?

I had internet in my former car BMW X1 , it only works when the car is parked and it was sloooooooooooooooow, not worth the money , almost never used it. Don't know what connection they used?
Better use an i pad or mobile phone with G4 network if available yet.

Works OK on my 535. I have used it a few times but not a great deal. I think that you can get web radio via the Connected Drive apps. I'll see if I can take a picture. Used to be pretty slow on the old 525 but now appears to use 3G as a little symbol comes up in place of the rotating globe. Uses it's own connection. Must have its own SIM card as I suspect all the other connectivity options use this. Like remote unlocking. Emergency call etc.

You can use it when moving but only if you override the caution notice. If your phone is locked in the cradle then it is useful. I hear that a cradle that has 4G built in and creates a WiFi hotspot is going to be or is available as another way. This NA press release shows where it is going. The Web Radio is there plus audio books Pandora and MOG. Take a look.

Gonville, that release shows a date stamp of March 2013 so surely these features would be installed for MY14 cars by now?

The Connected Drive apps will be there. I have internet radio but just haven't used it.

I tried the talking book app today as I wasn't aware that it existed before. Some of the apps might be US only on iStore. This is all iOS stuff by the way.

You still need to either use the apple cable into the USB port or the media cradle. Thee was also an option to get some of this to work in the 5 series.
