I have down loaded an i Remote App. So far it shows me correct car location and its charging status. However the Remote Control feature which sends the commend back to car for Preconditioning, unlock, horn and headlight flesher does not work. The app get stuck into Sending to Vehicle mode. I had similar App "my BMW" which I used with my Active E. There also the preconditioning commend did not work reliably. Does any one tried this?

Is it possible your ID is still associated with the previous vehicle? Active E? I had similar issues when changing from one chassis to another on F10. Eventually had to get a new ID so it didn't conflict. Worth phoning support as it should work.

I deleted "my BMW" app which showed the Active E as my vehicle. The new i Remote app shows i3 as my vehicle so I think secure link is working. I will have to call Genius hot line to see if they have better answer.

I am seeing similar, painfully slow response times when it does work.
Just as often, it says I don't have a connection to the car, or says that remote services are currently deactivated for my vehicle. The route to vehicle function is more unreliable.

Just got my I3 a few days ago and downloaded the app. I had to call to get BMW make it connect to my car, and now the app works just fine. One quirk though, and I'm not sure if it's designed this way or if there's something I need to do different.
I can pre-condition the car when it's plugged in, but I can't get it to work unless it's plugged in. There are times when it would be really handy to have the heat/AC turn on when it's not plugged in, such as when I'm at work and there's been some freezing rain. It would be so handy to be able to turn the heat on 5 - 10 minutes before I go out to scrap the ice. Also, it can be blazing hot where I live so it would be nice sometimes to turn on the AC as I'm leaving the office to give it a few minutes to cool down before I get in.
Does anyone know? Does the pre-conditioning only work when it's plugged in? I looks like when it's plugged in the pre-conditioning times out after about 30 mintues, which is fine. It makes sense that when the car's not plugged in you would want to minimize the amount of time pre-conditioning so the battery doesn't run down ( if it timed out after 10 minutes, that would work ) Your feed back is appreciated.
ps...I think I'm going to love this car.

I've done pre conditioning using the app without the car charging. But my results with the app at mixed. Like others it's slow, but sometimes I cannot get an update from the car.

I wonder, if the status has not changed, if the app makes a query, that it might not update the time of the last status?

As to a preconditioning request, from start to confirmation, it seems to take about a minute to occur on mine when I've done it. There's a lot of different servers involved between your ISP, BMW, then to make the actual connection to the car, and then for it to respond. And, I'm pretty sure, it isn't the highest priority for them all, either - there are a lot of intermediary points in between.

The remote app (and the connected drive website if using a windows phone or tablet) will only be able to connect to the car, if the vehicle is parked in a spot with Vodafone signal good enough for data. You can use an app and website called OpenSignal to find out if your parked with decent Vodafone signal!

The app worked fine for me, up until this afternoon. Now it won't update and none of the remote control functions work. I'm sure it's just a temporary thing...

I have a new telematic control box since 2 weeks as my ConnectedDrive failed to work. That worked fine but since 16-8, it fails again. May be a worldwide failure?
