Looking at two 2014. Only difference is color (ionic silver vs laurel and happy with either) and HK in one in addition to tech, 20" and mega (which I prefer). I do enjoy music and have some commutes of 30 miles each way (though often have on NPR). Worth the difference? Other factor is the one with HK will be brought to local dealer from out of state and they are asking me to pay the 395 ship...

HK has 12 speakers - standard system has 4 (all of which are in the front cabin). I would have bought without the HK system ( I listen to NPR), but my wife is an audiophile and listens to music (usually loud) and wouldn't let me get the i3 without the HK system. So if you listen to a lot music go with the HK, if not then the stock might work for you.

I don't really need the onboard storage options, but the HK system I believe is pretty consistent across the models - so maybe a sit down in another similarly equipped i3 or model. I test systems through my ithingy as I like to hear specific ranges... and yes I have my wife's music as well... so from Taylor Swift, to Metallica, to Pink Floyd, to Otis Taylor, to Mark Knopfler... rock on :)
