About a week ago I noticed that after leaving my i3 on the charger overnight (w/ OUC as usual) the battery SOC barely moved from the night before (as if it was only trickle charging). After unplugging, turning the car on/off, and plugging it back in, the battery charged as usual.

Now, just yesterday, I noticed that instead of barely trickle charging, the battery SOC was actually decreasing while I had it plugged in. Again, power cycling the car and plugging it back in seemed to have restored proper charging.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any ideas on what could be going on?

Thanks

Is battery or cabin temperature conditioning active? If so, these can take a significant percentage of or more than the power that the OUC can provide. So the battery would either be charged very slowly or would actually be discharged.

I have seen my i3 pulling 20A while readying itself for a departure with preconditioning...considering that the OUC, at least our level 1 units as delivered in the USA is only 12A, things would be going backwards. 20A*120vac=2400W. The OUC level 2 units sold where the line voltage is 220vac (or higher) can output 12A*220vac=2640W, or enough to keep up. At 12A*120vac=1440W, there is a significant deficit. Now, it does not stay at 20A, but it does peak there. The average is lower.
