Clicking noise when accelerator pressed.

2016 i3 is making a “clicking” noise when accelerator pressed in drive but stops making noise when foot taken off and regen braking is engaged. Opposite in reverse i.e. no noise in reverse but clicking when foot off accelerator and coasting/regen braking in reverse. Any experience with this?
