Changing NBT to NBT EVO in i3 retaining connected drive

Has anyone done a conversion from NBT ID4 with TCB to a NBT EVO unit with ID5 or 6 and ATM and got BMW to recognize the new ATM telematics box so connected drive can be used?

The NBT ID4 I currently have is S-L-O-W. Would be nice to have built in CarPlay (instead of using RoadTop) and remote services active.

I have a 2017 with NBT ID4, with active connected drive services until 2023/2024. Would like to replace with NBT EVO and ATM.

Hi,

I did that. Main problem is you need FSC to activate Navi & Voice ... I used FemToEvo.

Then the ID4 uses APIX1 for the CID (main screen) while ID6 uses APIX2. Some ID6 can be coded for APIX1 but I have changed CID too.
Next you have to rewire the TCB from USB to Ethernet. I would recommand to make an adpater. In have crimped MicroMQS contacts ... that was no fun.

Last problem is the ATM. If you get one with active eSIM it will work ... BUT you can't use remote commands from the app because the mobile number is different from TCB. If you are good in solder electronics you can try to desolder the eSIM from TCB and put it in ATM ... risky. Or you can try to buy a new ATM with your VIN from dealer ... that shoul dstart process in BMW backend to assign new mobile number to your VIN.

Welll and ATM will also be used as GPS ... You have to move the blue GPS from ID4 to ATM. But the ATM has different coded Fakra plug (rosa instead of blue/blau).

If your new ID6 has Wifi you will need new antenna for it. Don't use cheap china antenne, that will generate fault code because antannas are monitored. You can use 61 11 8 714 851 (Rep.-Leitung Bluetooth Kabelantenne L= 425mm) was cheap in my country, plug fit's.
