Both Keys stopped working, changed battery no help

Hello, I have a 2015 BMW i3 REX, both of my keys stopped working one after another in a month. Changed new batteries on the fob and still nothing, I made sure the new batteries are good.

Some said it might be the Car's battery, however my cars battery is pretty new, got it a year ago.

Any idea what could be the reason or did I just have really bad luck and both key fobs failed.

Very often those CR2032 batteries hang on the shelf at the drug store for way too long, and when they're finally purchased they're as good as dead. From the various automotive forums I've been on over the years, this comes up a lot, and it's happened to me at least once.

So I'd start there, but it's also a healthy habit to suspect the 12 volt battery in any i3-related malady.
