The German company will open the order system for the new BMW i3 megacity vehicle will open at the very end of July for Europe, which means orders would also likely begin for the US around the same time.
The new BMW i3 is a five-door hatchback that will be offered with pure electric – 21- or 22-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack in the floorpan that powers a 125-kilowatt (170-hp) electric motor driving the rear wheels.
We’re guessing the all-electric version will cost in the region of £35,000, while the range extender model will command a premium and be priced at around £38,000.
The price also means that the i3 will cost more than rivals like the all-electric Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe or Chevrolet Volt.
