    i3 EDrive External Sound

Agreed. My i3 doesn't have a noise generator, yet its "electric motor whine" plus tire noise is louder than some Lexus V8s with all their sound deadening. I'd rather the level of "vehicle background noise" decline due to the shift to EVs, not just change from "engine noise" to "Jetsons noise".

    Make REX start optional .

Yes, you can code it down to as low as 3%, IIRC...

    Went from leasing to owning

That has to be the worst tire-puncture-per-tank-of-gasoline ratio of any vehicle ever. :-P

    i3 is over

I can't wait for reliable, common DC Quick Charge. I'm in Portland, Oregon. I drove to Seattle, Washington last week. It's ~180 miles, door-to-door. I charge at home, I went to a place that has on-site charging. Once you leave the Portland Metro area, there is one CCS DC Quick Charge station...

    mysterious light

That's not a light - it's an ambient light sensor to detect how bright the interior of the car is for use with automatic dimming and other ambient-light-condition features.

    Effect of preconditioning on range?

    Excellent, thanks!

    New to me 2014 rex

Yes, the little 'hook' under the center arm rest is for the accessory cup holder. If you have two cup holders, the "front" one is removable, and can be adjusted to be slightly to one side or the other, or go in that spot under the arm rest.

    New battery tech

Yeah, I'm rather doubtful about anything Fisker says after the debacle that was the Karma... The big factor with these "500 miles on a charge, 1 minute to recharge" is the truly insane amount of energy delivery that would be needed. Even if we assume an ultra-efficient system, where they could...

So it seems if your i3 was made on or before 06/15 your remote and emobility services last for 10 years?

That jives with mine. Production date 2015-06-11, original in-service date 2015-12-27, eMobility services good through 2025-12-27. My Connected Drive and Real-Time Traffic are set to expire in two months, though. (Only 3 years from in-service date.)

6 Months And I’m Going to Sell it

Alright, OP posted one technical help post, then this, then left. I'd say this thread should probably just be considered a "troll" at this point and shut down.

    2nd/3rd Owner Battery Capacity Warranty

The warranty book I got (sorry, can't find it quickly on my phone,) says that the warranty transfers only if it is either a BMW Certified Preowned subsequent purchaser or if the sale is private-party-to-private-party. So if the car got traded in at a non-BMW dealer, the long warranty stops. But...

    Effect of preconditioning on range?

I've tried HVAC on AUTO, and manually turning it to just the window defogger before shutting it off. No matter how long it preconditions before I get out to it, the windows are still very fogged up. I get in, manually push the front window defog/defrost button, and it's defogged within a...

Renewing Remote Services & eMobility Services?

Huh, my CPO 2015 I bought a few months ago came with only the original period, first bits expiring this coming December.

    FOB Remote Problem

Probably just a dead battery. We bought a used 2015 a few months ago, and one of the fobs had a dead battery immediately, with the exact same symptoms you list. We bought ours as Certified Preowned form a dealership, so just brought it back to the dealership, they threw in a new battery, and it...

    Effect of preconditioning on range?

Relatedly, does anyone know a way to make preconditioning use the defogger setting instead of standard cabin preheat? I'd much rather come to my car in the morning with the windows able to see out them than have it warmer...

6 Months And I’m Going to Sell it

You drive your car hard is what that means. Just like how in an ICE car, if it claims to get 35 MPG, but you drive it hard, you'll probably only get 30 MPG. My 2004 Prius in theory could get 500 miles per tank. I never got more than 350. (Between the combination of worse mileage than the...

Long Distance (400 miles) Rex Driving? Do I need to baby it?

Agree with the others - don't use default "on at 6%" behavior. Partly for power loss, but also for the lack of flexibility when refueling! With the default behavior, if you need to go further than EV+REx distance in one go, you will have a *VERY* short window to refuel - the last 10-15 miles of...

Disabling parking distance sensor for bike rack using some tapes?

You can tell the car to ignore the parking sensors by pressing the "parking" button once the parking alert goes off. Also, it ignores them above a certain speed (I don't recall off the top of my head.)

    Extended warranty

Your dealer is just trying to get the massive profit that comes with the aftermarket warranty they're trying to sell you. The battery warranty on all US-sold i3s is 8 years or 100,000 miles, so you still have plenty of time/distance on that warranty...

Why is the charging door so big?

The European "Level 2" plug is also bigger than the US, and has the Level 3 extra bits underneath, too.
