    Parking sensor picking up towball

I posted here a few months ago about one on my parking sensors triggering erroneously. Just in case this traps another owner, it turned out to be as follows: I had fitted a TorkLift EcoHitch towbar (well, really a bike carrier mount). Initially I just had the hitch and then, some weeks later...

    12V battery

It hasn't happened (yet) but I'm wondering .... What happens when the 12V battery fails? Does it leave you unable to start the car (and drive to a dealer) - or what?

    BimmerCode vs something better

I have Bimmercode working with my Veepeak BLE ODB through an Android phone. Works well. A review I read said that CarScanner was a good app for reading and resetting error codes. I have installed it but it doesn't appear to be compatible with the i3. This thread mentions ESYS, but I can't find...

    Coding the i3

Newbie coder. I want to disable the warning gong that sounds when one or more of the rear parking sensors triggers. Is this possible? How do I go about it?

    BimmerCode vs something better

Thanks for your replies. I've ordered a VeePeek ODB thingy from eBay and will take it from there. Won't be trying anything that might cause me break my i3 !

    BimmerCode vs something better

OK, thanks for the replies. I was talking NZ$ - so maybe about right. Is the $27 an annual or a one-off fee? With the BimmerCode, can you read error codes? Can you re-set them?

    BimmerCode vs something better

Can someone please let me know the sort of things that BimmerCode can't do that a more elaborate system can. I'm trying to figure out what option it might make sense for me to get. I understand that a BimmerCode adapter will cost around $50. What does the app cost? I believe the other options...

    Replace rear parking sensor

I said I'd send an update - and now I don't want to, because it's confusing :? I had been enduring this problem (one rear sensor erroneously triggering) consistently for the past 3 months. Before swapping out the faulty sensor for the new (cheap) one, I did some checking: - I disconnected...

    Replace rear parking sensor

Yeah, it arrived today so I'll try to install it some time in the next week. Let you know how I get on (and if it works - NZ12.85 compared to NZ$295 seems too good to be true. But I figure it's cheap enough to give it a go.)

    Replace rear parking sensor

This is the unit that I've ordered. The part number is 66209274427 01, which I think is correct for the i3 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32705316405.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.29725c4eZfQZM6

    Replace rear parking sensor

Thanks Mark. Yeah, I've already had the bumper off (installing the EcoHitch!) so I know about that. The other pic I've seen too, but the sensor is not the same as the i3 so the method of removal is not the same. It may be apparent how to get it out, once I open it up again, but I just want to...

    Replace rear parking sensor

I have a replacement sensor arriving from AliExpress next week. Before I'm ready to tackle this job I want to know exactly how I go about removing the old sensor from the bumper (and fixing the replacement in place). Has anyone done this and can offer some advice, please?

    Rear sensors constantly on

Have found this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32705316405.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.3.72383246UgKCnY Looks to be the right part - and a little cheaper than the quote from the BMW dealer in Tauranga (NZ)

    Rear sensors constantly on

How would I find out the original OEM part number for this sensor?

    Rear sensors constantly on

The same rear sensor has been intermittent, now since July. It spends 90% of it's time triggering - again, only when reversing or one of the front sensors turns overall proximity sensing on. A local(ish) BMW agent has quoted me NZ$295 for a replacement units (not fitted) :o BUT I have...

    Park?

The reduction is something between 9:1 and 10:1.

    Rear sensors constantly on

OK - just reporting .... I used a hair-drier on the faulty sensor today for about 5 minutes. I immediately tested and it was still faulty. However When I drove the car a couple of hours later, all was well. :-) Thanks, everyone, for your input.

    Rear sensors constantly on

Thanks, Ralph. Good to know there are people who "should" be able to service these things in Tauranga and Hamilton. We'll see. Yes, on my second outing, I went over a bump on the way to Auckland and the console did lots of complaining. Had to stop and restart things. It seems to be more like...

    Rear sensors constantly on

Have spoken to Tom at TSRMotors in Taupo. He tells me that the BMW sensors are hyper sensitive and they have encountered this sort of thing before. I have given all 4 rear sensors a good clean. Whereas, before, all four sensors were triggering, now, only one is. So, probably not the controller...

    Rear sensors constantly on

Oh dear. I'll give the rear of the car another clean (when it stops raining) and try again. Is there any testing that I can do? I have no idea where I can get this serviced - central North Island of New Zealand.
