    Disaterous inside tire wear

Greed is very clearly the issue. The Potenza Sport 225/45-R19s on mine still cost less than the EP500, and they have more tread depth, a more rigid casing, far better grip, and will just last longer. The Tire Rack has had the Sports for sale on a deal at $128 for the last two years. Less than...

Using Tesla Destination Chargers with an adapter for your i3?

My understanding is that it still requires a phone app to communicate with Tesla - and that the adapter itself provides no data communication about the vehicle being charged. I.e., it is 100% a software issue they are slow walking, same as MagicDock - which they only developed to collect a...

Who is the company that makes hatch struts with spring assist to kick the hatch open?

I might just stick some of those child safety corners on mine if I can find them in black. Just ordered some in clear.

Who is the company that makes hatch struts with spring assist to kick the hatch open?

I just want a set of struts that let it open a few inches higher. BMW obvious gave no thought to anybody over 6' tall constantly hitting their head on the sharp corners. It is the one thing that I truly absolutely hate about my i3.

    Disaterous inside tire wear

Alignment just isn't what Discount Tire does. Some say it is to avoid culpability on warranty claims, but I have been a customer of theirs for decades with zero complaint about their tire and wheel business. I do my own alignment at this point regardless, as I have found that even shops...

Carrying Cargo 'n Things with Our i3's...

Yep. I got the 2" version for maximum compatibility.

    Artificial Noise on 2021 i3

This is specific to equipment. Obviously, other laws apply. E.g., *my understanding* is that police cannot come onto private property and start citing everybody with a flat tire or broken mirror either. The reasonableness of it applies to situations like housing complexes and driveways while...

    Audio Pedestrian Warning Sound

Nuance is important. It's all in how people use it, as to my understanding NHTSA equipment requirements after sale are up to states to regulate. So while mandated for OEMs on new production, I can't find a state law regulating them (but assume nothing without searching for that yourself). My...

    Artificial Noise on 2021 i3

For what it's worth, private parking lots are exempt from vehicle requirement enforcement that does not directly put others at risk. Having the option to disable still seems reasonable and lawful in that context in the US at least.

Auto cruise control shutting off in sunlight

I wonder if it could be possible to just set the camera back more in a custom housing that does the same thing without exterior add-ons. (I have yet to take a close look at it though.) The crux of the problem may be in the windscreen glass itself though.

    Audio Pedestrian Warning Sound

And here I am wanting to go the other way with it. (But I do have an Adafruit soundboard I am working to integrate in an external speaker system.)

Auto cruise control shutting off in sunlight

I have to wonder if blocking or shading the upper portion of the camera view could help. There is probably no easy way to do it, but experimenting with tape across the outside of the windshield could give us a clue if there is anything to be improved with that. I suspect it won't help much if at...

    Custom Rex Retrofit Project

That would be a long wait though at 110V. Sadly, there is no way to carry extra fuel with a REx that is truly safe in any case. If it needs to be done at all, the frunk is still probably the best place for it, being outside of the passenger compartment. The up side is that few people are unable...

    Wiring parking mode Dash Cam

This is the way to do it right in my opinion. Zero chance of draining the main 12V battery if connected to switched power. Some accessory packs can only do one or the other at a time however, leaving no output when charge power is present.

    Air Conditioning for Pets

Having the accessories active without the ability to drive the car is likely the exception, but obviously that would be the lesser offense vs. endangering or harming a pet.

    Air Conditioning for Pets

Yep, regardless of what works, I would not leave my dog in the car any longer than absolutely necessary. To me, that's maybe 5 minutes maximum. Otherwise, I just find other arrangements. I don't trust the tech - or passers by without brains - enough in general. A single gamma particle can flip a...

    Air Conditioning for Pets

Somebody posted a youtube video to simulate camping mode by using staggered departure times. Obviously that is more of a pain to setup every time, but it would allow not leaving the car in drive in mode.

what EVs lead the pack as replacements/alternatives to the i3?

The Ioniq 5N is the only EV I am interested in replacing my i3 with. If my bank account ever catches up to that desire is the only question.

Those who swapped in a 12V lithium - how are things going?

I installed the Moseworth 20Ah LFP in mine this winter. No issues with it, and fit is perfect after moving padding from the top of the hold down bracket to the front. It accepts SAE adapters for a no hassle install. No problems yet!

Buying used 2015 i3 all electric - questions on charging, range

I've never felt the need to get one given the charger locations and having the REx backup, but I would be a lot more likely to if I had to rely on public chargers around here. Regardless, my point is to plan carefully and don't make any assumptions about charge availability in some areas. (But...
