    I3 acceleration question

Seems plausible to accelerate that fast. I frequently notice that there is a substantial delay in the display updating when doing it, with it always lagging by at least 2-3 MPH until I let off - even noting that it can go higher if actually dipping into regen quickly enough. I don't know why...

How Do You Engage Neutral w/Dead 12v Battery

People considering LFP should look for one that has advertised low temperature charge cutoff protection. The one I installed last summer allegedly does and I have not had an issue with it so far, but I never actually drove the car during sub-freezing conditions, though it has endured multiple...

    Range

I think the most erroneous assumptions about range estimates in EVs is that they are pessimistic like ICE range meters. The Ford Flex I sold always predicted fewer miles than were actually left in the tank. The gauge would still read empty, but never actually ran it out of gas as the negative...

    Speedometer recalibration?

LOL. True, but 'prudent' is often decided by judges and juries to have more pragmatic limits.

2019 i3s AC Compressor Failure, $4k+, Extremely Disappointed

Part number changes are not something to rely on as proof. Does BMW use the same compressor in other cars? Are there portions of it that are shared? Items that are revised merely for production efficiency and cost advantage? BMW can change part numbers for any arbitrary reason they choose...

2019 i3s AC Compressor Failure, $4k+, Extremely Disappointed

I can't help thinking that the majority of them do not fail suddenly and catastrophically without showing other signs if people are tuned into them. A pump that has started to go out may subtly increase in noise and start to lose efficiency, but only release small non-harmful particles into the...

Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

I don't believe that makes practical sense financially. Most compressors don't fail, at least before the main battery ultimately needs replacing from normal degradation. Throw on the fact that anytime a perfectly functioning system is disassembled and parts are replaced introduces new potential...

    Speedometer recalibration?

It's all arbitrary ultimately. We would not need them at all or speed limits if people just drove prudently for the road and conditions. Here in Oregon, and likely many other places, we do still have what is called the 'Basic Rule', which essentially means the limit does not matter if you drive...

    Roof leak

I don't have the sunroof and can't confirm it, but I would guess that first photo shows 3 strainers before the drain hole, and that is where I would be looking closest.

    Painting an i3's Roof

It's fairly flexible. That's what I did for the vinyl. Tape could likely be used to pull it back enough for other coatings.

Refinished my Tera Eucalyptus wood today.

I like that. Mine doesn't appear to have bleached enough to notice yet, but that color looks really good. I know the wax finish also tends to dull toward matte over time, so that would probably be the easiest solution.

Refinished my Tera Eucalyptus wood today.

I hate appearance maintenance. So far, my eucalyptus looks good as new, so I'm not going to touch it until it doesn't. When I do however, I will definitely darken it and keep a matte or satin finish to reduce sun glare. Obviously, it's not bad stock, the less of it the better in my mind.

Soundproofing to reduce road noise and boominess?

Wind noise takes a back seat to road noise in my opinion. The aerodynamics are really not that noisy compared to many cars. It was never marketed as a 'luxury model' in any case - whether buyers wanted to believe it is one or not.

    Wrapping Roof with Vinyl Film

Good clarification, but I was referring to an actual reusable vinyl product. Probably wouldn't work well in any case.

    Wrapping Roof with Vinyl Film

It's all vinyl, but there is definitely a range of quality to consider. The stuff I use on my house windows is thicker and reusable after removing (which I have done 5x now), but lacking an actual adhesive backing may not make that a good choice. In any case, I doubt it will degrade any faster...

    Wrapping Roof with Vinyl Film

You could probably use a vinyl window film. They are claimed to block UV.

    Disaterous inside tire wear

+47mm total offset minimum on 8" wide wheels. My DR67 wheels are +32 with 15mm spacers - which is BARELY enough on the front with the H&R springs. The inside shoulder protrudes very slightly between the coils without rub.

Who is the company that makes hatch struts with spring assist to kick the hatch open?

Photos The only problem I see with them being clear is that there is adhesive around the sides I don't need to have it. I left the white covering tape on that to prevent dirt from collecting on the glue, but I don't know how effective that will be long term. It's not really visible with the...

Who is the company that makes hatch struts with spring assist to kick the hatch open?

I've installed them, and they are holding on well so far in our mid-90s heat. Reviews say the glue is actually very good, so hopefully not easy to knock off when washing. Cheap experiment either way. The extras will be used for my granddaughter's toddling exploits . .
