    7-Day Test Drive: 2015 i3 REx

Make sure the gas flap opens after you push the release button... you will need to push lightly on the flap to make it pop. If it does not, the pressure sensor will need replacing.... a common glitch, it happened to me.

2015 i3 Hold SOC charge not what it seems?

That's a cool feature, Bob. I wish regular google earth had it.

A Bolt owner has i3 regrets sometimes

I agree, the regenerative deceleration is perfect in the i3. It is very intuitive for new drivers, and takes only a few slow downs to get the feel for it. I can't imagine needing a more aggressive regen unless you spend a lot of time on very steep hills.

A Bolt owner has i3 regrets sometimes

Of course! Market forces and all that.. well, there are a lot more i3 REXs than i3 BEVs sold in the US, so I guess that's settled.... : ) I actually don't care much about market forces for the same reason I don't care about pop music, or the most popular TV shows. I care about the car's...

A Bolt owner has i3 regrets sometimes

"An apology to i3REx owners, but what's with that "range-extender"? (Before he or I owned BEVs, I told him not to go there when he leased his i3.) I mean if GM had the guts to go naked, how come BayEmVay pussied out with that REx abortion? (Thinking about it, I answered my own question. Being...

Have you put your home charging station on plugshare?

Interesting times. I read a lot about range anxiety, charging station infrastructure weaknesses etc. One way to actually do something about this is make your home station available to the public. If you are concerned about people showing up at all hours making noise etc, you could make it...

    Not a fan of Forbes

Indeed, the propaganda is strong, and the "review" was incredibly stupid. Did they not do even the tiniest bit of research into how the car works before trashing it? Do they also send people who have never driven anything but an automatic transmission to review a car with a 6 speed stick...

    BMW funding public charging stations

Hi Bob, That looks to be a different program... fast charging instead of the level 2 stations I was referring to. These level 2 stations are a partnership with the National Park Service. Thanks for the link. I will be reading that. John

    BMW funding public charging stations

Just found out on facebook that BMW is funding public charging stations... 100 of them at the national parks in the U.S. The three nearest me on the Olympic Peninsula are not operational yet. The locations are Kalaloch Lodge, Sol Duc Hot Springs, and Lake Crescent Lodge. I had no idea BMW was...

    Run on flat tyres

Yes, if it works for you. I can spare the space for a spare : ) The idea of being stranded 100 miles from the nearest BMW service center, or a hundred miles from the nearest tire store with one of these tires in stock makes me carry a spare. An un-pluggable flat could cost me several days of...

Ground clearence difference of 2014 bev i3

Your suspension may have settled with one side slightly lower than the other. If you are on level ground, bounce the car up and down on the suspension and then re-measure. I bet it changes each time you do this... nothing to worry about, in my opinion.

    Run on flat tyres

Or carry a spare if it is convenient for you. I do.

    Inaccurate speed reading

Both of the i3s we've had have run 2mph under what radar stations show.. so speedometer reads 30mph, and the radar says 28mph, for instance.

BMW i3 - The 'I' stands for 'Irony'...

On another note, it is gob-smacking that people getting an electric car do not do a little research and find out about plugshare. I was recently at a credit union charging up for free when a Leaf pulled up. They had an emergency. They were down to nothing. I let them plug in and mentioned...

BMW i3 - The 'I' stands for 'Irony'...

"Speaking as someone on their second i3 Rex, I can say that it only really works as a second car." For some people, that is. Depends on where you are, and your needs, of course. We live a long ways from really universal charging infrastructure, but manage just fine with a Rex. The Bev we...

    New member, charging question.

Have you looked on plugshare.com for stations near you or at work?

    KHONS replacement EVSE review

Hi Nyken, I can fit a level 2 and the stock charger along with a scissor jack, a few tools, and the stock flat kit in the frunk. The level 2 is a Clipper Creek LCS-30P which is small and draws 24 amps... about 30% per hour. It has a NEMA 14-50 plug. I plug in at RV spots with 50 amp service...

Charging on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state.

Port Angeles just added the first DC fast charger on the peninsula and Kalaloch lodge on the coast has just added 4 level 2 stations which will be operational in June. This fixes a major gap in infrastructure for those traveling the beautiful Northwest by EV. Now Forks needs to step up...

Hmmm... I just clicked on the link and it worked for me. Maybe you have to be logged in or a member of that facebook group? Sorry about that.
