    Charging 80 or 100%

I have always charged my 60 ah i3 to 100% whenever possible, and it often sits with a full battery for 3 or 4 days to a week at a time. Seven years I've been doing this... also plenty of DC fast charging. Not even a hint of range loss after 102,000 miles. It should be obvious that when you have...

    Windows open ?

You have inadvertently pressed a button on the remote. Long press opens the windows. This is a silly feature that is nice on hot days, but can get your i3 water logged if it is raining.

Scary catastrophic tire failure (not on an i3)

I bet that tire was way over-inflated.

    [i3 BEV] Drivetrain error

Not an expert, but was this vehicle in a crash? The high voltage connection to the traction battery may have been disabled as a safety feature immediately after a crash. You may have to visit an independent BMW repair shop and ask them for help diagnosing the error codes... they MIGHT have the...

Carrying Cargo 'n Things with Our i3's...

It was a stack of foam boards and very tiny shower stall... the whole thing weighed under 150 pounds. I used 8 suction cups and multiple straps. Drove it 80 miles on the highway without any safety concerns whatsoever. Hard braking and swerving would not budge it. There was some range...

CCS DC Fast Charge Not Working

If it works sometimes, it is probably not the charge cable lock actuator at fault. A simple way to find out is plug in to a level 1 or 2 with your battery somewhere below 100% and lock the car. If the little white pin above the charge cable moves out when you lock it, it is working properly...

    Heater Not Working

Were you by any chance in eco pro plus mode?

Tesla Allowing CCS Charging at Superchargers!

I would be curious to know if you get a drivetrain error after your first use of a Tesla super charger. I did after both times I used one. It went away after using a regular CCS fast charger...

Tesla Allowing CCS Charging at Superchargers!

In the Olympic Peninsula and around Olympia and the Washington coast where I often take long trips, I have never seen a Tesla Super charger station full. They rarely seem to have more than one or two cars. The Magic Dock I used has 8 stations. Never seen more than 2 Teslas there at once...

    Tesla Magic Dock issue

(Crossposted on facebook) 2015 REX using the Tesla Magic Dock: Each time I use the magic dock, I immediately get a drivetrain error upon unplugging. The good news is that it's not a serious issue and goes away after about 2 weeks... or you can make it go away by simply plugging into a normal...

Rex is toast... Any way to stop maintenance cycle?

If you drain the fuel tank, the REX will not try to start.. as far as I'm aware.

i3 Battery charging - Degradation real life experience

My 60ah 2015 has almost 88,000 miles on it. I charge to 100% at home regularly and DC fast charge a fair amount. I have driven the same route hundreds of times in the last 5 years. Not a hint of ANY degradation of the battery. I reach the same milestones at similar temperatures and times of...

Seasucker Monkey Bars rack on i3

Search for Kayak Rollers on ebay. I bought 4 of these for far less than sea sucker. I have hauled a complete small shower stall and at another time 12 -8' 2X6s on the roof.... a bit more weight than I liked, but it worked.

    i3 Roof Rack Suggestions

The roof is carbon fiber, not metal.

    Charging to 80% capacity

No. The BMS takes care of that for you. There is an upper and lower battery buffer. Why add more buffer, and thus reduce range?

    i3 Roof Rack Suggestions

I purchased 4 kayak rollers from ebay. That's 8 suction cups. Much cheaper option. I cut down 2 of them and used pieces of straight 1/2" copper pipe instead of the taller bent tubing that came with them. I put the 2 short ones in the front and the 2 unaltered ones in the rear so that the load...

    Long-term Storage Results

Nice response, but: "so why store an i3 fully charged when doing so isn't necessary?" Because there is no such thing as a fully charged i3 battery, perhaps? I would trust the battery management software to take care of it. Of course, you might be on to something with the 12 volt battery...

To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

We are just heading out on our 100th (or so) 350 mile round day-trip in our 2015 REX, so I don't have time to comment on whether or not they are good for that : ) Maximum in one day: 515 miles in winter conditions.
