Integration of Apple CarPlay with iDrive

You can still move between them seamlessly after pairing your phone via CarPlay. Arguably, the most consequential sacrifice with CarPlay activation is that it takes over all calling/texting transmissions. BMW navigation is still available, as are all other standard iDrive 6.0 connectivity and...

    Adaptive headlights?

The automatic high beams? There’s an on/off button on the end of the turn-signal stalk, below the BC button. Available only on 2019+ models with adaptive LED headlights, a new option.

    Interior

The interior is one of my favorite aspects of the car. It's a moonshot design by BMW.

Has Anyone Driven Both S and Normal i3 ?

Compared to a 2015 model, highway driving is significantly improved in a 2018 i3 Sport. Because of the revised suspension and wider tires, the car feels less flighty at higher speeds. The difference in city driving between the two is not as noticeable.

    Rear-Fog Switch Retrofit (U.S. i3s)

If you can wait two months, this one might work, even with the superfluous (in the i3) front-fog switch: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-european-bmw-parts/european-headlight-switch/61319265303~oeb/ It looks as if the rear-fog Euro switch that is still being manufactured, and plays nice...

    Rear-Fog Switch Retrofit (U.S. i3s)

Yes, see the first post in this long thread.

    Rear-Fog Switch Retrofit (U.S. i3s)

I have installed the i3’s Euroswitch with the illuminated rear-fog button — pressing it also lights up 5. No, lighting up 7 is a coding setting somewhere in the BDC_Body module.

    Rear-Fog Switch Retrofit (U.S. i3s)

Your plight inspired me to take apart the light switch installed on my i3 at the factory, and it doesn't appear that the blank buttons will activate the rear-fog light.

    Dash Cam Recommendations?

So far, so good with Garmin Dash Cams in front and back. They're tiny. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/567282

    Rear-Fog Switch Retrofit (U.S. i3s)

Either software will work to activate the rear-fog settings, but in addition you'll need some kind of mechanical BMW light switch to turn the lights on/off.

    Touchscreen

Yeah, it's a significant upgrade, requiring new hardware. Indeed, it would get expensive to swap in a 2014. The overall processing of everything is much faster in 6.0. Route guidance, voice commands, UX, it all feels quicker than in my 2015. The map labels are easier to read from the higher...

The AAA Cold and Hot Weather report

Just a clarification (and you probably already know this): Pre-conditioning the high-voltage battery to optimum temperature only happens when you set a departure time in the car. To warm/cool the pack to this temperature, and to achieve maximum range, you must set departure time at least three...

    Rear-Fog Switch Retrofit (U.S. i3s)

^ Success (sort of)! Your photo shows the turn indicators illuminated in the rear bumper, not the rear-fog LEDs. My i3 does the same with the rear-fog switch activated, so I'm guessing we used similar codes. Here's a BMW diagram of the left rear lights in an i3 exterior, along with their...

    Touchscreen

Yes, iDrive 6.0 for the 2019 model year, as in 2018, though the tiles are newly available with 2019 MY Business navigation, as well as the upgraded Professional.

    Touchscreen

As a consolation, the touchpad on the larger iDrive controller (the one with Navigation Professional) supports multi-touch gestures, but only within the interactive map view. So you can zoom out by pinching two fingers together or pan around by flicking, etc. I think you'll really like the...

    Coding the i3

For those interested in how to automatically set the car's clock via its GPS, the coding edits in my 2015 BEV were: 1. HU_NBT module > 3000 > SETTINGS_TIME_AUTOMATIC > set to navigation 2. BKOMBI module > 3000 > GPS_UHR > set to active In some older U.S. i3s, the auto-clock setting is active...

    Connected Drive

In the U.S., most of the ConnectedDrive services, including Assist (emergency call), expire fours years after the in-service date of the vehicle.

No touchscreens yet in any model year.

Help decide between 2014 vs 2016 Used i3

I would go with the 2016 CPO. But ensure that warranty gives you a total of 6 years/unlimited miles. The dealer should be able to tell you about additional CPO plans. See https://cpo.bmwusa.com/warranty.

    Activating LIM button in i3s

The BimmerCode developer responded quickly. He said at some point he will add access to the SAS module in an update, but without access to expert mode.
