    Set a maximum charge limit

Interestingly, BMW has enabled a charging target — and specific guidance on extending the service life — of the high-voltage pack of its new flagship electric vehicle, the iX. From the back of its U.S. owner's manual (highlight mine):

BMW 2021 change to instrument light colours?

In low light, all model years have changed from white to reddish-orange on the HVAC controls since the i3's debut in 2014. BMW has utilized this interior color scheme for decades, as it mitigates eye fatigue.

Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

I'd try to help with my 2018, if it had the LED Matrix lamps, but it's only the 2019 and 2020 i3s with HBA. If you have one, looks like you're the guinea pig. :D Turns out activating the matrix functionality of the LED headlightsis possible with simple VO Coding! See post 13 in this bimmerpost...

Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

Sure. There's a reference link in post 4 of this topic that describes the new matrix headlight. It's from BMW's PressClub. See the "New body finishes, adaptive LED headlights, optimised controls and connectivity" section.

Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

It's Bjørn Nyland's video, not mine :) He demonstrates the i3's High-Beam Assist and its LED Matrix functionality, noted in the press release above. I have yet to see this matrix effect with my own eyes in an i3, but I'd imagine the effect is more apparent in conscious Technicolor, rather...

Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

Yep, 2019+ models shipped with new headlight LEDs. According to BMW: Sounds compelling on paper, but is it in practice? I watched Bjørn's video again (link in post above), and at around 7:38, it appears that the new technology interprets the high-beam reflection from the diamond-shaped road...

Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

In North America, I'm fairly sure enabling the LED Matrix headlights in the i3 requires coding, and it only works on later model year cars with automatic high beams. See Bjørn's video, at around the 7:40 mark, for the i3's VLD in action https://youtu.be/5DPdPgU9Myc?t=450. Seems ... meh. He's...

    New i3 in US?

Floor liners for i3 and i3s the same?

As mentioned, the BMW all-weather mats fit the same in both Sport and non-sport. I purchased them for a 2014 Mega lease and then moved them into a 2015 Tera lease, before settling into a 2018 Sport (Deka), which I purchased near lease-end. To my eye, they are the most visually harmonious in the...

(Update: I bought one!) Test Drove 2016 BEV w/ 34k miles. Battery Check?

With Florida’s flat roads and moderate temperatures, as long as you keep your speed below 65 mph, you should be fine at 65 miles total. That’s probably the max., though. In your shoes, I’d feel more at ease plugging in at the office, even a 110V L1 plug, assuming you’re thinking of the i3 as a...

(Update: I bought one!) Test Drove 2016 BEV w/ 34k miles. Battery Check?

~65 miles max. That sounds about right: 70 miles = 4 mi/kWh x 17.3kWh. You'll see 4 mi/kWh at speeds under 65 mph, with gentle starts and stops, and in Eco Pro driving mode, which changes acceleration mapping and reduces the output of the HVAC. In EcoPro+, the car goes into Apollo 13 mode...

Road trip with DC charging - no REx

I’m in a 2018 94Ah BEV and have driven it on two summer road trips (350 miles each way), with three DC charging stops in between. The greatest distance is between home and the first DC charger 102 miles away. I keep speed around 100 kph (62mph) for this leg. With the car’s automatic heating and...

Short Road Trip in BWM i3

I've taken my kids on a ~350-mile adventure (each way) to visit their Pappy at his lake cottage. We travel in a BEV with the 33 kWh (94Ah) pack. Total time door to door is about seven hours. I reconnoiter primarily with plugshare.com's trip planner. It's among the best crowdsourced information...

    CNET - 2018 i3s REx review

The headline with the i3 Sport is how much better it handles on the highway than a non-Sport i3. Its revised suspension and wider tires yield a less flighty feel at higher speeds or in windy conditions. This is a significant improvement that many reviewers miss.
