Why does an I3 need vented front discs?

But still, the friction brakes have a lot less work to do than on a conventional car (without regen braking).....

    20000 km without problems

So, I drove the first 20000 km without any problem! I used 3547 solar kWh (real external measurement ;) ) and 11 litres of gasoline for the Rex. And I never used any public charging station. For more details, see: http://geen-energierekening-meer.weebly.com/auto.html It's in Dutch, but Google...

Why does an I3 need vented front discs?

Just wondered: why does an i3 need vented front disc brakes. The brakes are rearly used and if so, only for short moments. Non vented discs would be cheaper and lighter. Less mass means lower electricity consumption! And less mass in the wheels means increased riding comfort! (ratio sprung /...

    BMW i battery certificate

Forgot to tell: during those 6 months I had asked for the document several times.

    BMW i battery certificate

After 6 months I still didn't have the certificate SA7AQ. Since I bought it (it was mentioned in the quotation and specified in the bill), i threatened BMW, to sue them since they didnt supply what I had paid for. Two weeks after that I received the document.

No automatic reset of ecopro or ecopro+ after switching off

I like to use the ecopro and ecopro+ mode. However, every time the car is switched off, the mode is automatically reset to comfort. Each time I start the car, I have to change the mode to ecopro or ecopro+ again. But sometimes I just forget. I would like the car to stay in the mode that was...

charging amperage adjustable by app and by external signal

Thanx Ironsia, I've received your mail. It looks like an interesting concept. I'll have to study this more in detail. The doubt I have at this moment is this: When I adjust charging (from a homeplug) to 100% (=10A/230V in European I3's), it is a setting in the control system of the car. When I...

charging amperage adjustable by app and by external signal

Hello, I live in a net zero energy house (including charging of the i3). For details, see my website (in Dutch): http://geen-energierekening-meer.weebly.com/ To prevent exchanging too much electricity with the grid, I try to use the charging current of my i3 to control the system. For the...

    Rust!

I removed the rearwheel to taker a closer look. This was what I saw: Maybe nothing to worry about, but it doesn't look nice either. The disk (brake) is a bit rusty because I didn't use the car for two weeks (holiday)

    Rust!

No news yet. I plan to remove the rear wheel myself. Just to take a closer look.

    Rust!

After owning the car for 1.5 months now, I saw marks of rust on the left rearwheel. See picture. According to the dealer this is normal, since the wheel hubs are made of carbonsteel. However I never saw this on one of my previous cars (that also had wheel hubs of carbon steel).... What do...

battery (12V i suppose) is not being charged

Well, today the car was back to the dealer and new software has been installed. The problem should be solved now. I'll keep you informed if anything new happens....

battery (12V i suppose) is not being charged

@Jeremy: I had exactly the same as you had: also later, it showed a different display "Increased battery discharge when stationary. Electrical consumers were temporarily switched off." (in my case in Dutch text) And the next morning all fault warnings were disappeared. I was to the dealer and...

battery (12V i suppose) is not being charged

Hello, Today I wanted to drive away in my i3 and got a message on the screen that the battery is not being charged and I have to stop carefully and get in touch with the nearest BMW dealer. Since the message is in the driving mode (with no charger being connected) I suppose it must be the...

winter (snow) tires or all season tires

@ecoangel: Can you give a link (or adress) where these sets are offered? I live in the Netherlands, but close to the German Border. So I could buy them in Germany if I knew where to go.

    Which smartphone is required ?

Hi, Upto now, I only used my mobile phone for calling and SMS. Since I bought the i3 (scheduled for delivery by the end of February), I want to be able to use all it's possibilities, so I need a smartphone. I will probably rarely use the phone for internet, e-mail etc. Asked the i-genius at my...

The delivery date has just been told by the car dealer. But I don't have an official statement from BMW that it will realy be by the end of February. You notice that I'm a little suspicious.... I'll just wait and see. As soon as I have an official date, I'll post it here.

winter (snow) tires or all season tires

Hello, I don't like to change tires twice a year. On my wife's car we switched to all season tires and we're quite happy with them. I ordered the i3 about a month ago and I'm just wondering: are all season tires already available (because of the special tire sizes)? Anybody any idea?
