    Fuel Pump defective

I also had the problem with the fuel tank pressure sensor in the past. Fuel door only open opened by using the green pull strap under hood. And as described before, my fuel pump and relay were also replaced. After reading all your posts. I doubt wether the fuel pump was relay defective. Or...

    Fuel Pump defective

I had the same problems in the past with the pressure sensor (required to open the cap of the gas tank). But it was replaced and since then OK. However I rarely fill the tank. The problems with the pump that I described, turned out t o be pump and relay as far as I know now. Both were replaced...

    Bad quality OEM portable charger...???

Almost five years now, I am the owner of an i3 REX. I nearly always charge at home and to do that, I'm using the portable charger as supplied with the car. Of course the dealer tells me, I should use a wall charger unit, but I don't see any reason for that. The lower charging speed of the...

    REX Won't turn on

@slac10: Sorry, but I don't have partnumbers or any paperwork. I just told you what the mechanics told me. I didn't even see any of the parts. No idea where they are in the car.

    REX Won't turn on

Yes I have an update now. I've got the car back yesterday after 2 weeks (!!) at the dealer. They exchanged the fuel pump and the relay belonging to the fuel pump. However this did not solve the problem. After a long search, they found out, that the relay of the fuel pump is next to another...

    REX Won't turn on

Same problem overhere. The dealer told me the fuel pump should be replaced (€700,- !!) But after replacing it yesterday, they're still searching because obviously the fuel pump didn't cause the problem.... So, car is 2 days at the workshop already, without any results so far.

    Fuel Pump defective

@slac10: do you remember where you've read it about the other guys with similar problems?

    Fuel Pump defective

The defective fuelpump was diagnosed by the dealer. However, the i3 is now in the workshop for 2 days already. They replaced the fuelpump, but the problem wasn't over yet. They are still in search of the real cause of the problems, burt they have no clue......

    Fuel Pump defective

The I3-REX commands me to run the REX once in a while. I'm not sure, I think it's once every 6 weeks or so. And then it has to run for a minimum of 10 minutes. So, the engine runs once in a while. When it should be required to run more often, I suppose BMW had programmed that in the software...

    Fuel Pump defective

My i3-REX has 75,000 km on it. From which approx. 1,100 km on gasoline. Mostly because of the automatic maintenance runs ;) Now my fuel pump is defective. A new one will cost around € 700,- (including mounting). I can't imagine it's normal practice for gasoline BMW's that fuel pumps have such...

Solar charging by means of a power manager

Sorry to Bob Wilson. I was not able to respond earlier. I new the website openevse, that you are referring to. But as far as I understand, the chargers they are describing, are not able to be controlled by a 0-10V input signal. And also they have a minimum charging amperage of 6 A at 230 V. And...

Solar charging by means of a power manager

Hello all, In my country (the Netherlands) we nowadays are having a system where you can supply PV-power to the grid and take power from the grid for the same rates (it is called : "salderingsregeling"). However this system will come to an end in a few years. From then on, you will be paying...

    3 phase charging at home

Just to be clear: it's not ment to have high charging power available, but only to distribute the power evenly over the three phases. So that the power drawn (per phase) is lower than when it's all coming from one phase. The 2.3 kW charging power i'm using now (10 Amps at 230V) is sufficient for...

    3 phase charging at home

Hello, I have an i3 with range extender. No fast charging option. 99.9 % of the charging is done at home, with the supplied 230V single phase charger. Since my wife also has an electric car for about half a year now (VW E-UP), we sometimes draw a serious amount of power from the grid. The car's...

Why does an I3 need vented front discs?

Sorry, Maybe I shouldn't have asked. I live in a flat country. We don't have mountains. I guessed that regenerative braking would be enough on long downhill slopes, but it semms that I was wrong.

    Shockabsorbers

Hello, Last week I changed my winter tires for summer tires. At both front wheels I discovered that the protective rubber covers around the shock absorbers (inside the springs) were defect. At a German E-auto forum I discovered that I'm not the only one having this problem. My i3 is three years...

    REX fuel consumption

I did the calculation in km/litre and then recalculated it to miles/gallon, using 1 gallon = 3,78541178 litres

    REX fuel consumption

But how did they measure it ....?

    REX fuel consumption

Hello, Was just wondering what your consumption values are. I recently found out, that the total distance and the electrical driven distance can both be found in the i3-app. Fortunately I kept track off the amount of fuel I've added in the i3 (from the start in March 2014). Total distance =...

Question to the people in California

Hello, I'm an i3 owner from the Netherlands. Overhere we pay salestax when buying a new car, but also we have to pay what we call "wegenbelasting"= road tax. For electric cars the "road tax" is zero. For hybrids it also was zero up to now. But from Jan 2016 on, we are obliged to pay road tax...
