Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

What a future we live in – they can remotely turn my light-emitting diodes into sensors! I only shake my head in wonder at these times.

    Squeak in dead pedal

When plastic rubs against plastic, noise should always be expected. Placing a soft material on one side of the joint's surfaces should get rid of the squeaking. Check out a local craft store, self-adhesive felt may be a big help for what you're looking to solve.

    BMW Trips ....

Hello SLParry! I've not tried to import trips / itineraries into an i3 but using a mobile to push a desired route to your i3 might be possible using one of BMW's apps: https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/08/20/send-destinations-my-bmw-app/

Seat belt buckle contact driver: interruption

Welcome to the forum i9998217! Any thoughts from you (also you, gt1), why those wires might have failed? Seat belt sensing tech is something that BMW should have solved long ago.

    Coding the i3

Having recoded my 2021 BEV with Bimmercode after the car's first scheduled maintenance I wanted to share a few thoughts... "Comfort Access" has always seemed to me to be the ability of the car to unlock when a key fob is close to the car when pulling on a door handle to open or pressing on a...

Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

websterize – Glad to hear you've gotten an upgraded i3 and are still looking into coding the matrix high beams! I've read through this Bimmerpost thread regarding iX matrix lighting: https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1897955 On page three, one of the posters has a copy of...

Gig worker looking for his futuristic hatchback

In 2014 I also looked at the JuiceBox but went with OpenEVSE because there was talk of putting a small VGA full-color display on the front panel (they even sent me the actual display panel). The display never got developed but OpenEVSE's product was a really good value at the time with an...

A coffee table book for BMW i

I'm fortunate to have an automotive bookshop within driving distance and stopped by the other day. On the shelf was a book about BMW i that I've never heard of before, BMW i Visionary Mobility: https://www.hirmerverlag.de/us/titel-1-1/bmw_i-1673/ I bought the only one they had in stock for a...

Gig worker looking for his futuristic hatchback

Howdy Instacar7er, and welcome to the board! If you're in Central California I would guess that your electric service is with PG&E. I don't know what PG&E's rate plans are like but you should take a look to see what metering plans they offer for EV owners. At the very least they should offer...

Does this sound like I need a new 12v battery?

There is a BMW Service Information Bulletin for replacing the 12V battery: "SI B61 21 010 Remove and install (replace) 12V AUX vehicle battery" You might be able to find it with a bit of searching but BMW has recently cracked down on sites that republish their technical documents...

I3 windshield washer dead / troubleshooting

Another thought regarding no fluid being dispensed... If you live in an area with very hard tap water then the dispensing jets may be clogged with hard water deposits (mineral buildup). Removing the jets and giving them a brief soak in white vinegar could help dissolve those deposits. If you...

I3 windshield washer dead / troubleshooting

Another possibility is the plastic water line may have split because of old age. Have a friend, etc. to come over and hold the washer stalk in the position where the car dispenses washer fluid. Look in the interior and under the car for leaks. In one BMW, the line to its rear wiper / washer...

2019 i3 'Mains Power Too Low' Error Message

Another thing that comes to mind... All US i3s were delivered with dual KLEs (Convenience Charging Electronics) as standard. Outside of the US I believe i3s were delivered with a single KLE module as standard which provided 3.6KW L2 wall charging. An (optional) second KLE provided 7.2KW L2...

    Quiet thunk/clunk noise when accelerating

Hello Tofipok – A BMW publication that begins with "SI B" means "Service Information Bulletin" (SIB). From my US perspective, any US BMW dealer will perform a SIB on any car regardless of warranty status. You don't even need to bring your car to the dealer, just the key. Your dealer can read...
