Make REX engine available on wheels

Since the REX engine is a component of a "serial" hybrid, making the REX engine available as an accessory would be beneficial for the following reasons: 1. Environmentally beneficial: (a) Many inbuilt-REX purchasers may use it only occassionally, if at all. So, lugging around ~300 lbs at...

    REX Maintenance Schedule

Thanks for the info. I wonder how much a oil/filter change would typically cost at a BMW dealership, if any have had it done and had to pay for it.

    REX Maintenance Schedule

Hello All, I searched on this forum but couldn't find it. Is there a published maintenance schedule for the REX engine or is it all condition based? If the latter, what has been the experience? Thanks, Srivenkat

    REX engine on wheels

Thanks for the response. I believe most users have a good idea of their daily commute, as far as requiring REX for that day or not. Also, if one knows that they can purchase "REX on Wheels" later if and when they need it, most might start off with BEV as opposed to going for REX because of...

    REX engine on wheels

Hi All, I am intrigued by the i3 and am looking to get one while somewhat afraid of the many problems that have been reported and potential out-of-warranty costs. One thing I have been wondering about is this: Wouldn't it have been better if BMW offered the REX engine mounted on its own wheels...
