Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

I love the way you keep making assumptions. As I think I said previously the brakes are not fully applied but it sounds like they are just applied sufficiently to make contact with the discs (an hence providing some cleaning action) and there is still some ‘regen’ slowing the car. I have driven...

Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

Car does not ‘ride the brakes’ as they are applied relatively lightly.

Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

As i said previously on my 2014 REX the brakes are definitely applied when I go down hill with 100% charge and lift the accelerator - I can hear the noise of the callipers!!

Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

My brakes are definitely applied if the car is at 100% charge when I leave me house. It is straight down hill when I leave and as I get near the bottom of the road and lift my foot off of the accelerator pedal then I can hear the brake pads on the disc.

Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

I don’t think you need to ‘hit (the brakes) hard once a day’ as I understand that the i3 applies the brakes itself to keep the rotors rust free.

    GPS tracking deactivated

Get the same message on the i Remote with my car sometimes. I then just go and tick the option in the car’s menu and all is normally OK again. Have you tried unticking it and reticking it?

Test drove a BMW i3 REx, but...

Not sure about the others but the Nissan Leaf is a very slow car compared to the i3.

Cruise control at Higher speeds always +/- 5

One click up or down gives a +/- 1 change. Pushing the button fully up or down gives a =/- 5 change.

Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

On the very rare occasion I have had to use my brakes they seem fine and no different from the X1 that I also drive.

    UK Insurance

I have had my i3 REX for 3 years now and have always insured with BMW. However, this year they are trying to increase the price by more that 50% from £308 to £485!!! - no Ive not had any claims! As the car is on lease from BMW I have always felt more comfortable using the BMW insurer so that...

    Brake Pad and Tyre Wear

Just had my i3 checked over after 17K miles and no mention of any significant wear on the brake pads…..

    End of Warranty Check

Just got my REX back from its end of warranty check (and MOT - its a UK thing!). Passed MOT fine. Warranty work inc replacing the front suspension gaiters - from the forum this seems to be a common fault. Replace A/C condenser ‘lower’ seals as A/C was not working. Again seems common. I wonder...

    Wiper Sensitivity

Having had the car for 3 years I would think so! Found the answer elsewhere: Auto Wipers Sensitivity Adjustment FOC offer from Farnborough “Could you communicate to the group that if anyone is visiting their Retailer for a separate issue that involves a software update, we will increase or...

    Wiper Sensitivity

I know there have been previous posts about the poor sensitivity of the auto wipers and I thought that someone had posted that BMW were aware of the problem and had a fix for it. However, I cannot find that post! Anyone know what the BMW task number is for the job?

    Plugless wireless charging system?

However, wireless charging is hugely inefficient and therefore costly!

    New fault message

Ive had it a few times when using the REX for long journeys. Each time I had used the REX and had to fill the tank and continue using the REX for the rest of the journey. I believe its something to do with condensation. Each time I have left the car overnight on my drive and next day and...

    Charger tripping

Given that many (if not all in the UK) have 32 amp circuit breakers I wonder why they dont trip and your does?

    Recall letter arrived

I consider it unacceptable for BMW to expect to modify my car without telling me what they are doing. A good example is when they changed the strength of the regen braking. I really liked it as it was originally and was very annoyed when they changed it. Probably annoyed enough to avoid BMW in...

    Testing Ioniq hybrid (blue)

I’m waiting to try the Ionic electric as I have no interest in the hybrid. The electric has Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Smart Cruise Control which is plenty of wizardry for me! Acquaintances of mine have one and...
