    trunk always locked

When I got an unwanted software update recently, afterwards the trunk was also locked until I pressed unlock a second time. The same was true of the passenger door, which was even more irritating. However, I found in Settings (or maybe somewhere else about the fob) that you can alter the...

I need to drive over 150 miles one way routinely - Ideas?

Lencap: You've understood correctly how to use the Rex on long journeys. In the UK, we can all turn the Rex on when the battery is at or below 75%. There doesn't seem to be any penalty (hill-climbing, for example) using the Rex when the battery is above 6% or so. The only change I would suggest...

    Software Update is 3.56.4.003

mindmachine: How is that accessed, please?

Hybrid electric drivers drive more electric miles.

We're in a Rex. I didn't take us long to realise that our best strategy is, as others have pointed out, to use the battery as long as possible and arrive home with an empty battery. The Rex completely cures range anxiety. If we want to do high speeds on a motorway, we sometimes switch Rex on at...

A short vacation in an i3ReX covering 451 miles in a five da

We endorse that 100%. :D But we weren't sure until we had the car that we could do so. But we don't bother with the hassle (and cost) of finding chargers en route, but do charge when we get there. We have found that hotels are ridiculously keen to help find an outside 13A socket for us and...

    The cold room

Last winter I NEVER had to scrape frost off the windscreen. Of all the attractive aspects of the i3, preconditioning beats them all IMHO, because getting into a toasty-warm car in the cold weather takes some beating :D . I tried very early preconditioning without the charger connected and it...

Electrical Storm Passes: Doors Unlocked, Windows Half-Down..

This is definitely a bug in the system! It's happened to me several times. :x Twice it resulted in the car being flooded in the downpours. I'm sure (but not certain, of course!) that I hadn't long pressed the unlock button. One thing that reassured me in having that doubt that was the fact that...

    11k miles of mixed Rex-ing

I don't have a record of the number of miles on Rex, but it's only used on longer journeys where I get about 10miles/litre, so I guess that we've done around 3,400 miles using it. It might seem a lot, but I took a conscious decision to get the Rex and NOT get a second car for the longer journeys...

    11k miles of mixed Rex-ing

I have totted up 11,300 miles of mixed motoring including long journeys and short. I have bought 338 litres of fuel and done 11,300 miles in 11 months. That's 33miles/litre on average. I usually get about 90 miles on a tank-full using Rex alone on long journeys. The longest round trip was 700...

BMW i3 - Best steering of any car I've owned

The other thread about the steering being the worst ever has baffled me. My first-love car was my Lancia Aprilia and that had legendary steering, cornering... I could go on. But the i3 is fast displacing it as my favourite car  . I think the i3's steering is outstandingly good, and my...

Firmware upgraded, but still no SOC!

Yes, I get TOD, instantaneous m/kWh, average speed, average m/kWh, temperature, etc. But no SOC. :(

Firmware upgraded, but still no SOC!

I was leaving home on battery and had a dire warning come on saying "Drivetrain. Don't turn off the car. It will not turn on again. Go directly to a BMW garage!" I did as I was bid, but the warning went away within 1/4 mile. They had it in, couldn't find a fault, and upgraded the software...

    275km trip: advice needed

I posted this last year, which might help to reassure you that long distances are not to be feared: I've done several long trips using that method. Nowadays I recharge the car at the hotel (they are fascinated to participate in 21st Century technology, and never charge for it!) Also, I try to...

Power windows opened half way itself after turned off

I've had the same problem several times. Twice when it was pouring with rain overnight! I'm not convinced by this accidental pressing the unlock button for a long time diagnosis, and I've tried reversing the luminous fob cover, too. The garage said winding the windows down after a long press on...

    Easy activation of Range Extender

I haven't coded my i3, and put Rex on/off on favourites button 8, as I described elsewhere. But it needs only one push to toggle the setting, not two. maybe RExingIT is pressing the button for too long, so it needs a second press?

i3 App, how to remove old routes

I'm sorry I didn't make that clear.

i3 App, how to remove old routes

Get Map on screen; Press routes; scroll down to the one you want to remove; press options; scroll down to delete; select - and - hey, presto! It's gone :D

    Pro nav touchpad not working

It's in Menu/Settings/Touchpad: scroll to the write box and click to tick it. Then it'll work. I unticked it because it's infuriating how it sees your finger hovering as you try to input words!

rex range in the uk winter time

As a matter of interest, I'm paying 14.09p/kWh including standing charge to SSE. I don't have economy rates. But I DO have PV panels and get 17.7p/kWh for all I generate! :D I try to charge the car when the sun's shining, of course.

    Windows rolled down

That's a very good point - I hadn't thought of it. But I still wish BMW could disable the FOB-driven windows down for me!
