    USB cable

That is perplexing! As I recall, the glove box comes out fairly easily with six screws, which might give you access to see where the wire goes. Depends on how curious you are, I guess! John Francis Rolla, MO

    AM Radio

As a plus, with Bimmercode you can also activate Hold State of Charge to turn on the Rex manually, if that hasn't already been done in your car.

    Used i3 Parts Supplier?

I just realized I've been searching online for the wrong term - I should have been looking for "Mobility Kit." I have the bottle of sealant - just need the inflator, and I see a plethora of these on eBay. Anyone know if they are all the same, and if any of them would work on the i3? Better...

    Used i3 Parts Supplier?

When the wrecker hauled away my 2014 i3, I didn't think to grab the tire inflator out of the frunk, and my "new" 2015 didn't have one! Do any of you know of any salvage yards who are specializing in the i3, or if other BMW models used the very same setup? I realize I can buy something similar...

    Missing Tire Inflator

My first BMW i3 was unfortunately totaled by a kid running a red light. I was able to get a good deal on a second one a few months ago, but it is missing the tire inflator setup that belongs in the frunk. I'm not having much luck in my search for one, other than to pay the insane price for a...

    Will I make it home?

I agree with the others here - having the bigger battery pack would be best. But if you can pick up an older Rex model for a good price, you could still do this easily. I have a 2015 REX, and I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to use it on your commute. Yes, I'd have to use some Rex power to...

    Rex problems

It might have just been a bad unit, but I bought the Foxwelll scan tool and could not get it to work with my 2014 i3 Rex. Loaded Bimmerlink on an iPad with the Veepeak obd Bluetooth dongle, and it worked great. It will also allow you to register your battery. Good luck with the Rex issue...

    Upgrade Touch iDrive Controller

I think only the dealer can upgrade the iDrive controller. I think the only upgrade we can do is to the entertainment system.

    Thanks, vreihen, for sharing that!

pre-conditioning on home charger (normal socket, not fast)

Do you have plans to get a level 2 charger? It can make life much easier knowing that even if you get in late at night, you can still leave with a full charge in the morning, or that during a lunch hour at home, you can get in an additional 20 miles or so.

    Near Total Electrical Failure

FWIW, I just replaced the 12v battery in my 2014 Rex. The Foxwell 510 scanner I bought to register the battery wouldn't do it - I ended up returning it. Downloaded Bimmerlink and bought a Bluetooth dongle, which handled the job easily.

Things I Dislike About My i3

I've never heard that. Do you have some documentation?

Dealer trying to charge me $900+ for "DAMAGED CHARGER CABLE HOOK"

FWIW, I was having that problem with it not releasing the charger. I put a little white grease on the pin in the car, and it seemed to help.

[Solved] Can not send messages to my i3

I feel like an evangelist, since I've now written this several times, but try pulling fuse #115 in the fuse panel under the glove box, waiting a bit, then putting it back in. It will reset the cellular system, and has fixed the problem for many of us!

    ConnectedDrive

One of the first things anyone with this problem should try is pulling fuse #115 in the fuse panel located under the glove box. Leave it out for a bit, then reinstall. This reboots the cellular system, and has fixed the problem for many people, myself included! My car will now respond to...

    Article on High Mileage i3's

It could be that BMW meant that they hadn't changed out a COMPLETE battery pack. In the ones they've pulled, I've read that they find and replace the bad cells only, bringing the entire pack back above the 70% limit.

Serious problem with new BMW ConnectedDrive Website (USA)

Yes, it's fuse number 115 located in the fuse panel under the glove box. Worked like a charm for me!

Heat "Icon" on the Temperature Dial...

I may be wrong, but I don't think any "waste heat" can make its way into the cabin. I believe your only cabin heat source is the resistive element (for we REX drivers) or the heat pump + resistive element (when needed) for BEV drivers. Personally, I leave my heat set at 68 and get along okay...

Trouble code P0335- Crank Position Sensor.

Did the Rex not run? Did you clear the code and try again? If you did and the code came back, then you very well might have a bad crankshaft position sensor. That sounds like a job for the dealer, unless you're a good mechanic yourself.

    12V battery

After reading several horror stories on other forums, I decided to be proactive and change the battery in my 2014 i3 Rex. A new battery is around $140, and the Foxwell NT510 scan tool to code it is $155. (vs $500 for the dealer to do it.) There are several Youtubes available with good...
