    Unintended acceleration

Except that... it's not an exception. The clip is inconclusive, because it doesn't include any analysis of the cause. Perhaps the throttle really did stick wide open, or perhaps there was something left rolling about on the floor and it jammed the throttle open - we just don't know because it's...

    Steering not self centering

Correction: I was wrong. I did the test (as shown at the start of the video posted on Weds) on my car today, and it *does* self-centre quite strongly - with about the same strength as the car shown in the video. It's a bit disconcerting to have driven a car for a year and a half, and *think* you...

    Parts For Sale 20 " Wheels and 2 Ecopia 500 Tires (1 front 1 back) $500 USA 08618

It's worth saying where you are. As you price in dollars it seems sensible to assume that you're in the US, but no buyer will want to buy any other way than "pay when the item is in your possession" (correction: nobody should be considering buying any other way from an advert on the internet)...

    Front bumper damaged

It really depends how extensive the damage is and how skilled you are at vehicle repairs - I doubt anyone here knows either of those things. But car repair shops have been doing bumper repairs for years, so it's a well-known skill. Probably best bet would be to get a quote from a body shop and...

    Steering not self centering

I'm pretty sure that my car would too - but the thing is that I don't notice because I never let the steering wheel move through my hands. That may be why some people really notice the issue and others don't. It's simply down to a slightly different driving style. I should stress that I'm not...

How to delete warning failure for the acoustics pedestrian message?

Is it fair to assume that you don't have any way to turn off the pedestrian warning alert from within iDrive? You don't say where you are and what year the car is, and the problem is that you may be in a situation where you will be driving the car illegally - because in some countries, the...

    Unintended acceleration

It depends what you mean by "activate". If you mean "turn on the cruise control system", that's not correct. The system should remember your previously set speed only while the system is active - in which case you can return to that speed by hitting the "Resume" (RES) button. Just turning the...

    Home Charger 7.4kw on 2021 i3

As far as I'm aware there is a set of fault codes that will generate text warnings on the central screen, and then another set of fault codes that won't. I'm not aware of any way to read the latter without a code reader. Your situation does sound familiar - similar to other threads in which...

    Home Charger 7.4kw on 2021 i3

Ah, Ok. What you have is (in effect) a granny charger with a 32A Commando plug on it, not a proper Mode3 charger? It seems likely that the car is detecting this as a Mode2 charger, and applying limits appropriate to that? You should be able to test this by changing the car's Mode2 settings...

    Home Charger 7.4kw on 2021 i3

No - my charge point only supplies power on one pin, but can charge at 32A (28A in reality).

    Unintended acceleration

If I experienced that in my car, I would not drive it any further - it would go straight to a BMW garage to be investigated and fixed. There is no way that that should be happening, and - if it really is accelerating of its own accord - it is (IMO) faulty and intrinsically unsafe.

    Home Charger 7.4kw on 2021 i3

No - as already said, it doesn't need 3-phase to achieve 7.2kW. I know that my EVSE has only a single phase wired up (because I don't have 3 phase to my house!) and it will achieve around 28A charging current, which is as close to 7kW as I'm likely to get. And, as Gonville says, check that you...

    Home Charger 7.4kw on 2021 i3

As Mondomensch says, it may be a setting in the car. Or it may be a configuration setting in the charge point - or possibly it may be that the charge point is configured to reduce the charging rate because there are other appliances on your property that are using high levels of current. I...

Second live with double range for the i3 60Ah?

Anti-EV content in the UK press has been here for a long time now - it's certainly nothing new. But the UK car market is odd in other ways - for example the extraordinarily high proportion of privately-owned cars being bought on finance (in effect, lots of people driving cars that they can't...

    12 v battery change

Probably the worst bit is that sometimes you get very little warning that it's about to die (maybe a cell plate collapse happens quickly - I'm not sure). In the UK there was a tale of someone having theirs fail in an indoor car park, and they had to pay to have a special tracked vehicle extract...

    12 v battery change

To an extent, it depends where you are in the world. In Europe the batteries are relatively cheap from a BMW dealer, so it probably makes sense to just do this as preventative maintenance at 5 years old. But in North America they are quite a lot more expensive (from a dealer) so the decision may...

Hard drive with all of my music

I find it surprising that a 2021 i3 (for example) runs a tiny spinning hard disk rather than an SSD, and that (as already said) we never seem to hear any reports of failures! Can you remember whether the example that you looked at runs the native QNX filesystem? If so, and it's their Power-safe...

    Sim card?

True, but the converse is also true. These days, SMS can be pretty fast too. Like a lot of other people, I use SMS regularly to get authentication codes for online bank sign-on and transaction authentication. Typically an SMS arrives in 5-10 seconds, most of the time. So we can't really infer...

    Sim card?

Sorry to admit - I did not. It seems to be "common knowledge", though how those who claim it to be true know, I don't know! When you consider the time delays involved in (for example) flashing the lights via the app it seems likely that it is true. I'd like to be proved wrong (or rather I'd...

    Sim card?

Our collective understanding (I think...) in the UK is that this won't be an issue. The underlying mechanism for all of the remote comms is SMS, and that will continue to run over 2G when 3G ceases to operate. I don't believe there is any firm plan to turn off 2G in the UK, because a lot of...
