Time Slots unusable due to Remote Services

It is now a very widely reported issue on the i3 UK Facebook group. AFAIK nobody has found a fix. Question: Do you use, or have you ever used Octopus Intelligent Go? Nobody is completely sure whether there is a link to that service/tariff - evidence suggests not, but we're still not certain!

    Reset the idrive

Yes - what you've found is that the supposedly "universal" way to reboot iDrive does not work on the later (post-2017 facelift?) cars. I don't *think* there is any non-invasive way to do it on those cars. But perhaps if you say what problems you are having, or what outcome you want to achieve...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

It's not the app that's causing the problem. You can test this easily: Set up a schedule in the car using the myBMW app. Now shut down the app. Then go and check in the car itself every hour to see whether the schedule stays there. I just did that and two hours later the schedule in the car...

    BMW i3 FIRE

Definitely a UK term, though of course it could be a translation of a different European term. But odd for a UK resident to quote an EU safety organisation which doesn't (as far as I can tell) even cover the UK any more. Very odd...

Help!! BEV with missing inverter / Rex missing front end.

As I understand it, you can't take the motor controller module (the EME) off one motor and fit it to another without additional work. As I recall, the motor is synchronised to the EME (via a numeric code that should be attached to the motor but may not be). The EME is (as far as I'm aware) the...

    Stuck seat belt

It might. The i3's seatbelts don't seem especially prone to jamming in my experience (never happened on my car, to date). Those that do seem to respond best to jiggling rather than pulling constantly. It's got to be worth a try turning it round so that it's on an opposite slope. Is it possible...

    Stuck seat belt

It's not by any chance on a slope, is it? Sometimes that can cause the belt mechanism to lock, and it won't (typically) release again until it's relatively level.

Help!! BEV with missing inverter / Rex missing front end.

TBH, if you have any option to back out of the second purchase, I would do that. There are lots of dependencies between the various modules in the car, and I would not expect that an attempt to mix&max the core modules would be successful. The problem is likely to be that nobody outside of BMW...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

Update - response from BMW in the UK suggests that it is only UK customers that are affected. Again, I find that hard to understand, but I know nothing about how BMW distribute and update their server infrastructure around the world...

    BMW i3 FIRE

I don't think the safety-critical recall system works in that way, in any country in the world. The way that it's supposed to work is that the owner is notified, and they are advised where to take it to get the problem fixed (at BMW's cost). In theory, I guess it's possible that the problem...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

That may be OK for some people but, as explained above, the current problem does not seem to be anything to do with Octopus. It's a problem which appears to be somewhere in BMW's systems, so trying to use only the myBMW app won't work (as I've found out) for this specific issue. And also bear...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

Just to confirm - the following test shows that the problem still exists and seems to be solely down to BMW: In the myBMW app, go to Vehicle, Charge & Climate Timer, and set a "Charge in Time Slot" (you will need to set a Departure Time). Doesn't matter what you set - anything will do. Then...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

It seems so. I still find it really odd that a bug within the myBMW app could cause these symptoms, but people who have never used Octopus at all are reporting the same, so I guess the problem must be there. What I don't know is whether this problem is confined to only a part of the world, or...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

I've just seen an update on one of the Facebook i3 groups which seems to explain what is currently happening: "the problem they are having is with any bmw connected to any intelligent tariff (where the supplier controls the times). Bmw did an update that clashes with the connection, this causes...

Granny charge in stages to full

It should be no problem at all - I did a similar procedure on mine while I waited for an electrician to connect up my "proper" EVSE. I guess if the climatic conditions are extreme where you are, it might make charging efficiency a little bit higher or lower than charging continuously, but I...

    Octopus Intelligient & Location

I don't think Octopus wanted to make it complicated. They realised that their customers want to be able to control the amount that they charge their cars (rather than just always charging to 100%), but unfortunately BMW made it complicated by including no API command to stop charging. All of...

    2016 i3 - will not charge

What do you mean by this?

    Front passenger seat hinge cover

No, it's not easy to break. I've had passengers in the back of my car, and none have ever broken that part. Does that help at all? I can write that it's easy to break though, if you think that will help! Ok - it's easy to break - they break all the time. Does that help? The point is that...

    Front passenger seat hinge cover

I'm not sure how anyone here could help you. If we all said that our cars had failed in this way and a part had dropped off, or if none of us said that our cars had failed in that way and the part has never dropped off - how would it help you? We could offer you sympathy about an apparently...

    tpms on sreen accuracy

Unfortunately the system on the i3 is a "direct" system, so as I understand it the in-wheel sensor transmits absolute pressures and temperatures (unlike an "indirect" system where the ABS controller calculates the pressure externally to the wheel). As far as I know there is no facility to...
