Sound System Upgrade Information - Standard (NON-HK models)

I have seen posts where people have connected them and yes, the coding needs to be changed. From my research the wires go to the connector for the door on the body but do not exist on the door side of the connector. There was one thread I was following but I can't find it now. I will try again...

    Check Vehicle reset?

Yep. Same place you reset the oil change and brake fluid reminders. All the service reminders are nothing more than timed reminders. Oil change and inspection come on once a year on my car, brake fluid every 3 years.

Vehicle not charging after 12v battery replaced

Link? Might look at that in 4 years when I'm due again. Although I have a hard enough time with the HV battery taking an hour to warm up, may not want to deal with that with the 12V. When I looked into lithiums for the 12V before I only found 1 person saying they tried it for awhile and then...

Any real limit to running REX?

Otherwise the car turns off which resets your Hold State of Charge setting to whatever your current charge is instead of whatever it was when you first enabled it. The car loses about 3% of battery per 10 km at highway speed even with the REx running. It will also keep charging with the REx...

Any real limit to running REX?

I was playing around with an OBD reader the other day and there was indeed a reading for mileage on the REx. Mine said just over 11000 km. The car has 117000 km on it. There was also a running hours reading for the REx but I can't remember what that one said. To answer the original question...

Why EV's won't be taking over gas cars anytime soon in the USA.

My experience matches this. The horrible fuel economy of the i3 when on gas has really made me question if the car is worth it, especially with all the expensive/annoying/limiting "quirks". Public charging takes too long and costs almost as much as gas in this car meaning running a more fuel...

Vehicle not charging after 12v battery replaced

I was going to ask how that battery holds up to the cold but now that I see your location I'm guessing you don't have much experience with that. 😆

My i3 shows wrong expected loading time on the dashboard

You probably have scheduled departure times set. Even if preconditioning is disabled the car still shows the next departure time unless you totally disable all the scheduled times. It's either a bug or really dumb programming by BMW. I find it very annoying.

Planning a 3000 mile road trip

Oh, I was under the impression they were all Destination chargers and just some of the newer Destination chargers had MagicDocks while older ones did not. Now I'm even more confused because I thought no DC charging was allowed from a Tesla charger to our i3s and definitely not with a 3rd party...

Planning a 3000 mile road trip

You can use them with your own adapter or do they have to be equipped with MagicDock? I installed the Tesla app recently thinking I'd be able to use a few of their chargers. The nearest one that says it's compatible is 3 hours away from me in some tiny towns no one ever goes to.

Planning a 3000 mile road trip

I was under the impression the Tesla DC chargers are called Superchargers and none of them currently have the MagicDock and those are the ones that will be enabled in the future once a recommended adapter is available. The non-DC Tesla chargers are called Destination chargers. As far as I know...

What Car Did You Drive Before Going Electric

That was highway but could be from the day before. I have definitely noticed it was off. I just didn't realize by how much. At 130 kph even with the REx running it loses 3% every 10 km.

What Car Did You Drive Before Going Electric

2007 BMW X3 with manual. Still have a 1987 Porsche 944 manual and some motorcycles. After owning the i3s for awhile I would probably go back to gas or a hybrid because running the i3 isn't as cheap as I expected. Uses ~9L/100km on gas (a Rav4 hybrid is around 6L/100km). Public charging costs...

    94ah Rex Road Trip

Personally I carry 3 x 5L jerry cans as they fit exactly in the frunk. The small size allows me some leeway without worrying about spilling. Once I get down to 1 bar I block the brake so the car thinks I'm still in it, then just dump a whole jerry can in. Goes up to about 3/4.

Anyone found another tire that fits??

You're supposed to switch to the 19" for the winter. My 2019 i3s came with a set of winters on 19s.
